great kid actor but this speech was too rehearsed to bee genuine. child actors, if they win an award, parents should be with them. he was alone and delivered the speech perfectly, that doesnt seem natural. we know what happens to many kid actors when they get older.. :/

@@P9B Your comment makes no sense. His parents were right there at their table in the audience. He's a professional actor, and was 8 at the time he got this award. He doesn't need parents escorting him on stage and hovering over him. No child actor who's ever accepted an award has had parents with them on stage, definitely not at that age. If he can perform in scenes like he did in "Room," and "Dr. Sleep," sometimes singlehandedly carrying scenes on his own, then he doesn't need his parents on top of him on stage. But that aside, of course it was rehearsed. All speeches are. Nobody's saying it was made up on the spot. But he did a fantastic job giving his rehearsed speech. He's a smart kid.

It's so rare to see such child-like innocence personalized on-screen, that when it is shown -it's magical. you say that like it's some horror sentence when Disney owns Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm, yet those three are currently raking in some of the biggest cash and making some of the most beloved and well received films - if I was Jacob, I'd find a way to get into a star wars movie

Disney has plenty child stars who are just fine, the only reason you get the corrupting child star perception is because the ones who crash gets focused on by a media that likes to get in on the gossip and create drama - Disney has more than Star Wars that is good and it has its shares of young stars of the mouse club that turned out just fine, including some that have gone on to become oscar nominated actors

I watched it like 20 times but I still keep watching for Jacob he is so humble and i love how everyone were impressed by his speech.

Cutest award speech ever. Lets just hope he doesn't turn out to like the majority og child actors. Props to Bradley too. That mic was really heavy, look at his hand you can see it turning purple, or maybe he's just really pale.

The microphone stand is taller than he is! Amazing performance, thoroughly deserving of the award. Also, shout out to Abraham Attah! Guy was fantastic in Beasts Of No Nation, and it's a shame him and Tremblay aren't getting more recognition from other awards committees.

I think I awed my way through the entire speech just like everyone in the room! He so sweet and delivered a great speech! Jacob's future is so bright! Shoutout to the sweet Bradley James too for helping Jacob out with the mic! Loved him in Merlin and can't wait to see Damien!

This kid is simply awesome!!! He made me cry during this speech, he made me cry in Room and made me cry in Before I Wake! There's just something about him that gets me every time, so innocent! Ugh, please Hollywood, do not get the best of him and his family!
