John Deere? Valuable? More like priceless! Those things are extremely easy to find parts for and I know someone who works on tractors and restores them. His name is Troy Plocinski. He and his brother are mechanics to varying degrees and Tyler himself is also a fabricator. He went to school to become a fabricator.

The 322 is rare because of its engine. The engine is a Yanmar diesel factory converted to a gas engine. All the diesel parts are still on the tractor, but it runs on gasoline instead of diesel. He used to have a 2001 John Deere 455, but he sold it to replace it with a second John Deere X758 Signature.

The only antique that I thought was complete enough to justify fixing was that GTV18 I showed at the end. That thing was so hard to work on I really should have made a whole video about it. I've got an old Craftsman with a 20 horse opposed Vanguard that is a sweetie but I'm having to downsize because I'm too geezerish to take care of everything (8 mowers) and need the room. I have a 28 inch Roof with an 8 horse I/C Briggs used in tree farms and regular suff. Also a Gravely with a 40 inch Kidney mower that may stay. It has steering brakes and that's rare for a walk behind, 301 cast iron 12 horse Kohler with sulky. Getting my Sweetie an old Craftsman with a 16 horse single Briggs for a spare and a Stihl battery hand mower and keeping a Snapper 21 for a spare. Always something and you did REALLY good! Just shows how tough the old stuff was and still is. Blessings

with all the mowers was there any common theme to get them running? Or just adding battery and cleaning carb for most.
@AlwaysBored123

For virtually all of them it was just a matter of getting the carburetor to supply gas and getting the starter to spin the engine over. I think that Briggs with the missing pushrods and that Kohler with the cracked block were the only exceptions.

which riding mowers do you feel are the easiest to replace belts ?
@AlwaysBored123
@AlwaysBored123 9 ай бұрын
The easiest were the Craftsmans and Poulans with regular gear drive transmissions. Anything with a reeves drive (MTD and Troy Bilt) is a pain because there's more belts and pulleys and more guides to keep the belts on when they're slack. It seemed like Murray and John Deere were both pretty bad about burying their belts under lots of frustrating nonsense regardless of transmission type. Deck belts were all about the same with Craftsman/Poulan having a slight advantage.

That was a 200v cap... that genny probably made 240. 120 each leg. That make her a little pissed off
@AlwaysBored123
@AlwaysBored123 Жыл бұрын
Well that could have been the problem. That cap was specifically advertised to work with that generator though so it would be pretty dumb if it wasn't rated for a high enough voltage.

At 16:45 when the engine won’t turn over is this from bad starter, weak battery, or engine is in the compression stroke and the starter has trouble overcoming it?
@AlwaysBored123
@AlwaysBored123 Жыл бұрын
I'm 99% sure it was caused by excessive valve lash from my poor valve adjustment. Those engines have a compression release mechanism built into the camshaft that holds the intake valve open on the compression stroke just slightly until the engine gets up to speed. If the valve lash is too much the release won't do anything and the compression will be too great for the starter to overcome. After running that engine for a while it actually got bad enough to where the starter couldn't turn it through a complete cycle.

I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my vertical shaft briggs opposed twin on my 116 it keeps making the whooshing sound the one engine made when it stopped at 2:19. the engine doesn't fire up all it does turns and makes that whooshing noise
@AlwaysBored123
@AlwaysBored123 Жыл бұрын
The wheezing noise while cranking is normal its just air leaking back out through the intake. Check for spark, fuel, and timing.
