Fact: The very first batch of launch consoles from 2005 had that “Includes a bonus media remote” sticker on the box. Which is how you can tell that it is one of the very first batch of consoles to be sold at launch. Honestly, such a incredible find Jacob! Been a long time viewer since 2017 with the foreign disc videos! The HDD going bad is starting to get common when it comes to older 360s which is a shame as they came with cool bonus content, like themes, gamer pics and even music! They will also include Hexic HD! Those 360s from 2005 - early / mid 2006 also had the Dark Silver trim on the HDD, the top and bottom vents and the controller, which looks much nicer especially when compared to the grey trim which replaced the dark silver one. 1888 is in fact the first ever dashboard to be released as it came on new 360s from 2005 - early 2006 and is obviously very rare. During launch day, there was already an update which was 2241 (The second dashboard to be released) so a lot of 360s got updated on launch day, though updates 2241 - 2858 did not blow a E-Fuse which means if you have a 360 that has 2241, 2255, 2258, 2857 and 2858 you can actually downgrade to 1888 on one. Only the launch titles will play on 1888. The marketplace blade came out in 5759, before it was part of the Xbox Live blade. I’ve also noticed that 5759’s system update folder is on the root of a lot of HDDs for some reason, which is why one a previous blades system that was showcased prompted an update when the HDD from another system was connected.

Something I always thought was cool about the launch 360s is they had a different finish on the grey accents on the controller and the console vents and HHD. it was more of a gun-metal color as opposed to the satin grey/greenish tint color they used later.

The Texas LOAD, best series yet

I was fortunate to get a 360 at launch that came with the free media remote. I kept the box for a while with the sticker but eventually had to get rid of it during a move. I never thought I would see one again so it was very cool to see you unbox a brand new one. I remember reading that only the first 100,000 360 consoles came with the free remote so the box and console are quite rare.

I remember back in 1999 hearing about the ps2 and getting really excited I was only 12 at the time so had no money but I managed to sell my ps1 and game collection and only being £46 off a ps2 my dad gave me my birthday money early and camping outside game on release day I was the 10th person to get a ps2 in my town . Last week I was cleaning out my dad's house he died 2 weeks ago and I found my ps2 still in its box with the receipt from 00:12 26/11/2000 I picked up a crt from Facebook and iv been playing my dad's gta3 save from the memory card he never finished his playthrough and his last save was 2005 . I feel you on disturbing stuff I once bought a beta 2 (a early 1980s VCR) hoping for some cool TV ads or even recorded shows. The guys wife was eager to sell it at a yard sale and was excited when I bought it. All of the tapes with it had a bachelor party and a naked woman dancing which explains why she wanted it gone so fast lol I also once had a DVD lens cleaner disc. It had a video of a beach and was intended to set your colors, contrast, brightness etc. As I'm checking my settings they show a topless woman on the beach-on her back-with no censor at all so strange they left that in

This is so nostalgic man. Brings back so many good memories. I didn't have one at launch, but we did get an Xbox 360 when Gears of War launched in 2006. It was wild how good the graphics were even on a CRT TV. We got broadband early 2007 and I made an Xbox live account March of that year. Good times, man.

When you test Wii disc drives you should check if they can read super smash bros brawl (or any other dual layer disc game) as well, because its printed on a different kind of disc and sometimes the Wii becomes unable to read them, even though it can read most other games perfectly fine

Thankfully, the one I just unboxed didn't have the RROD! I also had the same issue with another OG xbox 360 unboxing! It seems that the HDD and capacitors go bad over time! If you find bad caps I'd be happy to replace them for you 🤙

Hard drives must have been a common problem back then because I can remember one of my like 6 360s I went through for one issue or another had a hard drive go bad randomly. I lost everything it sucked. Glad to know it wasn’t just me like I felt like at the time lol

I used to buy and repair old computers many years ago, and it was flabbergasting how often I found private dirty images and videos on them. People really aren't careful enough with their private images. I guess they forget the images are even on there after a few years, and then they just sell it or give it away without even thinking about it. I don't even have images or videos of that nature but when I get rid of an old laptop or something I still always take any and all storage devices out and smash them before selling or giving something away or even if I'm just throwing it in the trash.

You should take the batteries out of the controller packaging! If they haven't already, they will corrode and leak battery acid on the controller.

Referring to your comments about the original dashboard. I actually did get to experience it around launch time. Brings back memories when you booted up the new old stock unit. I remember as they changed it and how it got increasingly more ad invested. These days modern consoles have it even worse.

I had a launch 360! you have no idea how excited i was to get it. Used with with my ipod and zune (yes zune) and it let you sync and play music through the game through the blades. Windows media center was the shit too for a kid like me with tons of pirated content on my pc.

That residue was there from day one those things were so annoying to peel the plastic off the disc drive on your new console and have a giant sticky mess lol

Man I miss those days with the Xbox 360 blades interface. Kind of nostalgic even though I didn’t get one until the Arcade version.

My girlfriend (now wife) stood in line at Best Buy to buy me my 360 at launch. She also bought me a ton of accessories I didn't even ask for. We got married the next March. It actually did take a few years for me to RROD, but it eventually did. At the time I upgraded to an Elite but I eventually had Microsoft fix my original (for free) and then I sold it at a garage sale for $50 or something.

those hdds are either rock solid or made of glass, my launch one broke and when i bought a used one it was also broken but they swapped it for a working one for me.

My original launch 360 did the exact same thing on boot, E67. It did then sort itself out after a few reboots. I think I had 3 of the OG's red ring on me. Even with all that grief it's still one of my favourite consoles of all time. Thankfully MS did replace 2 of them in warranty. I actually lived only 5 miles from one of the main repair hubs in the UK so the turn around was pretty quick.

I've switched to pc a long time ago now, but I'll always remember the wonder and amazement of unboxing and setting up my old 360. Honestly the OG days of Xbox Live I met many friends that I still talk to today. You don't have that same kind of camaraderie on PC. I'm not sure that exists today even in the console world today still.

Systems didn't come out of the box brand new with the RROD. If it did it was super rare. Heat cycles are what caused the RROD. If you plan on using it I'd put the heatsinks from a falcon on it and mod it with faster fans. That will give you the best chance of it never getting a RROD.

The launch of 360 was so amazing i had so much fun with that console. I don’t think we’ll ever have that kind of leap in gaming again. There was a lot of sketchy stuff going on within Uno or really any game that utilized the camera lol. Many of free games were downloaded this way haha.

I had a Dashboard on my 360 that wasn't Blades but came before NXE. It was solid White, you could change the color of the menu headers and it didn't have the menus broken up into "Blades". I'm thinking I either had a console loaded with a prototype GUI or I had a showroom model. My folks bought in 2006 for me at the pawnshop and I had that GUI for literal years, it wasn't until 2010 the it updated to NXE and that was just because a game installed the new Firmware. I never played Xbox Live, I never even connected the thing to the internet.

It may not have red ring now, but you gotta remember launch consoles after enough stress started showing red rings in June 2006 so it won't get red ring now but it eventually will from stress the cpu and gpu solder connections

You can actually disassemble the og hard drive and stick it in newer models with the door to hard drive slot. I have actually done this and carried over all my saved data

I remember I got the arcade version. My mom got it as a surprise. The guy at the store try to upsell her but I was so adamant all I wanted was an Xbox 360 it didn’t matter what kind and I also remember spending like 60 or 70 bucks for a refurbish 20 gig hard drive later on oh the days I missed 360 watching this video makes me want to get one now not to mention the original dashboard before and NXE

I got one for christmas 06, let me tell you how nostalgic i was when i saw that dashboard.

The envelope icon on the Wii calendar doesn't actually show when the console was last played as the icon only shows up for special notifications (mainly Wii Sports fitness tests or new PBs), although it would take a long time to find the actual last time the Wii was played because you'd have to individually scroll through every day!

Yk you inspired me to start back messing with a 360 project I’ve had a few years. I’ve got an OG 360 from 2005 that a friend gave me 2 years ago. It had a red ring that I tried to fix at one time, but didn’t have a power cable. Just ordered one last week for it, powered it on for the first time today. Fixed the red ring AND found out it is on blades!

I still have my original Xbox 360. It's a red one so I think it was the special edition for resident evil. Still works to this day and I still play on it regularly. My fav game is viva piñata

LOL!!! I bought a Fat PlayStation 3 off a guy on Craig's List a number of years ago. Way back when marijana was still illegal in Washington State. When I got it home I started going through it. Hestill had his profile on it so I checked out what he had. No games, two episodes of South Park, and 200 photos of various pot plants growing in a sketchy looking green house. A few hours after cleaning it up I got an email from the guy saying "Don't worry about checking out the hard drive. Just go ahead and reformat it, there isn't anything important on it." LOL, a little too late dude. 😆

The wii reminds me of a used ps3 I bought at Gamestop. They didnt factory reset it. The system was still downloading corn.

I never got an Xbox 360 at Launch, but I did have the Xbox 360 Core (my dad found it at his janitorial job at the time) with an 8GB Flash Drive in it. It fried on me about 3 ½ years later. I got the Xbox 360 Slim a week after launch and fast forward 23 years later, I still have it, and it works.

at 15:43, i seen UNO, not sure if you knew this but it's a game that got removed from the store not long after it released so its quite rare to find

I found a core console when they were still hard to find and I was so sad it didn't have a chrome disc drive and eject button. I bought them on eBay just so it looked like the one that came with the hard drive.

Yes sir I even remember back in PlayStation playroom there was basically CP going on because any console with a camera could stream and it’s not like they were moderated. Someone could report it but it wasn’t immediate. Crazy crazy man

1:17 i was working at Gamestop at this point. I actually remember one lady paying for it and then walking out without it. We had to chase her down through the mall to give it to her.

When the 360 was launched I'd just figured out how to mod the OG Xbox. I probably spent another 6+ years on the OG Xbox. Then Circuit City went out of business and I managed to buy 10 250GB HDD's for $125 and started modding/selling the OG's. Made enough to get the PS4&XB1 on release day. Never owned a 360.

There has never been such change in a dashboard Home Screen on a console. I remember when we went from that old dashboard to the new one! It was like a whole other console! You can’t imagine them doing that now.

bro i started watching your videos 3 months ago and since then i become an xbox 360 fan.I bought my first ever fat 360 3 months ago, my luck was that the owner sold it for 10 bucks cause it was red ringed and the funny thing was that is was just a bad hdd that gave the 67 error and it was a late falcon too.Yestarday i got a trinity Slim and i modded it now i have to get the E version and im all done .Thx and cant wait to see another texas load coming up

I got my 360 christmas 2006. Was perfect since Halo 3 realeased the in 2007. I had so many good memories playing Halo and CoD mostly with friends. Seeing the OG firmware was awesome as I totally forgot about it.

Dang the blades, i remember first seeing this when the xbox 360 came out, had a friend who was selling me one without a control and av cables just with the power supply for $40 when they were still new... I didnt buy it because they were known to steal and didn't really know it it worked or not. Until way later on did o get my own i was always disappointed that I've never seen the blades any more and just the generic menu. Didnt know that Microsoft discontinued thae blades menu after an updatem

Luckily I bought an Arcade version that doesn't have red ring problems and i still can bring that thing back from the dead. Occasionally i had to open it up and unplug and replug in the Disc drive to reset it and then it would work again. Never had ring of death.
