Even without understanding a word, you know it's about hard stuff, the concept and the interplay of instruments and Damiano's voice and the brokenness in it, incredible! But it hits differently when you know the lyrics. Definitely with subtitles...🖤

Tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline Coraline as beautiful as the sun Warrior with a zealous heart Hair like red roses Those precious copper-like wires, my love, take them to me If you hear the bella sing you’ll see Coraline crying She takes in the others’ pain and then carries it within her Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline But she knows the truth Not everyone can go on with their heart split in two It’s already cold She’s just a child but she feels like a burden and sooner or later she’ll break People will say: “she’s worth nothing She can’t even get out a miserable door” But one day, at least once, she’ll manage And I told Coraline that she can grow up Fetch her things and then leave But she detects a monster that keeps her in a cage, that covers her way with explosive mines And I told Coraline that she can grow up Fetch her things and then leave But Coraline doesn’t want to eat, no... yes, Coraline would like to disappear. And Coraline cries Coraline is anxious Coraline wants the sea but she’s afraid of the water And maybe sea is inside her And every word is an axe, a wound on the back Like a raft sailing on a swollen river And maybe the river is inside her, inside her I’ll be fire, I’ll be coldness A repair during the winter Whatever you breath I’ll understand what’s inside you I’ll be drinking water The meaning of goodness I’ll also be a soldier Or a light in the evening And I don’t ask for anything in return Just a smile Every little tear of yours is an ocean on my face And I don’t ask for anything in return Just some time I’ll be a banner, a shield, or your silver sword, and... And Coraline cries Coraline is anxious Coraline wants the sea but she’s afraid of the water And maybe sea is inside her And every word is an axe, a wound on the back Like a raft sailing on a swollen river And maybe the river is inside her, inside her And tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline Coraline, as beautiful as the sun She lost the fruit of her womb She never knew love But a father that isn’t father-like at all Told her : “in the city there’s a castle with walls so strong that if you go live inside it nothing will ever hurt you again Nothing will ever hurt you again”

This album was recorded live… I am pretty sure. Their Italian stuff is really lyric driven and I feel they work all the instruments in service of that, they don’t do lost of crazy arrangements although… I think “New Song” live at Italia Radio (I think) has a nice instrumental improvisation: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j8hkiMlku8-RgZc.html

For this 3 shakespearian drama acts you've just listened the soundtrack but missed the storytelling. This is a Masterpieces beating your heart. It's a MUST to listen CORALINE watching a video with the subtitled lyrics translated into English and reading it line by line while the song plays. Same applies for VENT'ANNI. For TORNA A CASA, the Official video is a work of art itself and must be watched. You won't regret it.

Jacob, it would be so very wonderful if you could react to this song again with the English lyrics. I totally appreciate your take on the production and musicality, but I would love to see your take on this as a writer of lyrics rather than just the music side. While the music is absolutely beautiful, I would think that your word writing side of music would find the poetic beauty in what Damiano is singing about. Qofy listened to the song first without lyrics, but went back and watched the English lyrics and he understood why he shouldn't have been smiling in his first reaction. The lyrics are the main talent in this song. Thank you for this side of the reaction, but you will find more of a connection with your subscribers with understanding why all of us fell in love with this song and Damiano as a poet. Thank you, Jacob.

Coraline is a beautiful song, but not only musically, it has a very deep lyrics. Coraline is the invented name of a real girl who was subjected to physical and sexual violence by her father who then killed her. the strong-walled castle of which Damiano speaks at the end of the song is none other than the Verano cemetery in Rome. there are many videos of this song with english translation, it is worth understanding the lyrics in this song well. thanks for the reaction 👍

Coraline's lyrics are pure poetry like many of the lyrics of other Italian Maneskin songs and more. I am writing to you below the translation of the text in English, read it really changes the meaning of the song, thank you very much 😁👍 greetings from Italy 👍 Alessandro CORALINE Tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline Coraline, as beautiful as the sun A warrior with a zealous heart Hair like red roses Those copper wires are precious, my love, take them to me If you'll hear the bells singing You'll see Coraline weeping She takes the sorrow of others And she carries it inside of her Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline But she knows the truth Going on is not for everyone With the heart split in two halves It's cold already She's a child but she feels Some kind of weight and sooner or later she'll break People will say. "She is not worth anything" She can't even go out of a simple door But one day, one time, she will make it And I told Coraline that she can grow up To grab her stuff and then leave But she feels a monster keeping her in a cage Covering her path of mines And I told Coraline that she can grow up To grab her stuff and then leave But Coraline doesn't want to eat, no Yes, Coraline would like to disappear And Coraline weeps Coraline is anxious Coraline wants the sea but she is afraid of water And perhaps the sea is inside of her And each word is an axe A cut on her back Like a raft that sails In a swollen river And perhaps the river is inside of her, of her I'll be fire and cold A shelter during winter I'll be what you breathe I'll understand what's inside of you And I'll be water to drink The meaning of good I'll also be a soldier Or light at night And I ask nothing in return Just a smile Each of your smallest tears is an ocean on my face And I ask nothing in return Just some time I'll be a banner, a shield Or your sword of silver and And Coraline weeps Coraline is anxious Coraline wants the sea But she is afraid of water And perhaps the sea is inside of her And each word is an axe A cut on her back Like a raft that sails In a swollen river And perhaps the river is inside of her, of her And tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline, tell me your truths Coraline, Coraline Coraline, as beautiful as the sun She lost the fruit of her womb She never knew love But a father who is nothing like a father They have told her that in the city there's a castle With walls so strong That if you go and live in there Nothing will be able to hit you Nothing will be able to hit you

I understand you react to music but is really weird and a little disturbant for us who know the deep meaning of the song. I suggest you to react Italian song of Maneskin with English subtitles because they are real poetry and have a very deep meaning. Coraline is a very sad story of a girl abused, a real story of a girl known by Damiano and this is a not happy ending story...

@@amparofreire1666 Where do you get that notion, Damiano is my favorite. But that doesn't mean I don't like the instruments as well. Thank you for your reaction to Maneskin. Some information to the Band and thier discograpy. (Something you have done, some not, and something i wrote before ;-)). A note to the production: The producer of Maneskin is Fabrizio Ferraguzzo. He has done the production of all thier songs und is now also thier manager. Maneskin meet Fabrizio in the 2017 X-Factor Italy show. Fabrizio was/is the long term musical director of the show. A note it Coraline: Coraline is the most lyric driven song from Maneskin today. Here you can say the music follwos the content. This means, you must read the lyrics to understand why they have done some musical things. Since there is no official video, you can try this lyric video (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r7ieq7yZ2dqup3U.html) Maneskin was formed by Victoria de Angelis (bass, 15 years) and Thomas Raggi (Guitar, 14 years) 2015/16 in Rome, Italy. They want to take music serious, with the mood: "even if you are ill, you have to attend to our practice hours". Daminao (vocals, 16) joined soon. Then they searched a dummer and found Ethan Torchio (15) in a facebook group for musicians around rome. They start practicing together and begin writing songs. (you find lots of thier practicing videos) After forming and writing some songs, they play covers at the main pedestian zone of Rome, to earn money for their first records in a studio. In 2016 they won a battle of the bands for roman pupil bands. To join the competition, they need a name and asked Victoria to shout out some nice danish words. Victoria has a danish mother and speaks fluent danish. They choose Maneskin with the "°" above the "a" meaning Moonlight and more spoken "o". After that, they audited for the X-factor Italy show 2017 with thier first original song "Choosen" (Watch thier video at X-Factor Italy). They finished only 2nd but the reaction of the audience was fantastic. This earns them a recording contract from Sony Music Italy. With this contract they published thier first CD "Choosen" with 2 original songs and all the covers from the X-Factor show. One of these covers was the now charting "Beggin". "Beggin" was original perfomed in the 1960ies by the "Four Seasons". In 2007 it was picked up by the singer/rapper Duo Madcon, which added the rap verses. This version was covered by Maneskin. You find an actual perfomance at the "Tonight Show (Jimmy Fallon)" KZfaq channel. Than, in 2018, they published thier 2nd disk "Il Ballo della Vita", which aimed at the italian music market. The CD shoot through the roof, with 5 songs entering top 10 in italian charts. The overall characteristics are italian language Rock/Pop and more ballades, but some nice english rock songs, like "New Song". The Videos they made are great. Hear the "Torna a Casa", but have a translation of the lyrics at hand, because in italian, thier lyrics are much better than in english. Damiano writes most of the lyrics. The success of that CD gives them the influence to go more into the rock direction, this you hear on thier actual CD "Theatro d´Ira". (Theater of wrath) A "must" from this CD is the sad ballad "Coraline" (live with subs:kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e5imntKYsJ3dfYk.html) . "In nome del padre" and "Lividi sui Gomili" are the most metal orientated tracks. You found impressive singing in "La paura del buio". A straight in you face english rock song is "For your Love". And don´t forget "Vent´anni" (20 years old) with the astonishing lyrics. With "Zitti e Buoni" from this disk, Maneskin won the single most important Italian song contest (The San Remo Festival) in March 2021. This earns them the italian ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest, the largest music TV show on Earth. (in no way comparable with a talent show like X-Factor or the voice). They won it with a stellar performance. Watch it on the Eurovision channel if possible. "Zitti e Buoni" and the follow up song "I wanna be your slave" charted extremly good everywhere. To a surprise, the 4 years old cover "Beggin" went viral on Tiktok and jumps to No. 1 in charts worldwide.

Before listening to this video I had never heard this song and I too did like it very much without having the slightest idea about the meaning of the lyrics. Although good lyrics can of course enhance a song or sometimes a song might only work because of the lyrics, the song text is not what music is about in the first place. It's the melody, the notes etc. Otherwise you might just read some sort of text such as a short story, a poem, a novel etc...

This is so weird to look at. The lyrics is the driver for the music, and with out a clue about what the lyrics means you will be totally lost when you try to understand the music.

see here's the thing, good music works whether you understands what is being sung or not. Not saying the lyrics for Coraline aren't deep as hell, they are, they're beautiful poetry. But I love seeing someone react to just the musical part of it. To know this song works just as well when you don't know what a tearjerker of a song it is.

@@neobrand1845 I do get that, and there's a reason I started to learn Italian when I got into Måneskin. (still not good enough to try and start a conversation in it, but at least I can recognize some words in the songs without having to constantly use google translate) I wanted to be able to know what they were singing about. But that aside, if we want these songs to catch on outside of Italy, which I definitely do (I want to hear Coraline on my radio, and not just on spotify), then we need to understand that a huge part of listeners are not gonna make the effort of looking up the lyrics. Most people will just care about the melody, and the music. So it's important to know that the music can work on that level. And for that an analysis like this is good. (I also don't want him to be scared off of responding to other Italian Måneskin songs, since those are generally their best songs.

@@liliaeth While all that is true, English speakers can enjoy the majority of popular music without having to put in any additional work to understand the lyrics, yet the expectation is for non-English speakers to work. Very few non-Anglophone artists reach the level where English speakers are even exposed to their native language songs partly for this reason. Lyrics aren't always an important part of a song, but when they are, we should not facilitate dismissing them because of an easily overcome language barrier. It's really not asking very much of us to look up lyric translations, even as a sign of respect.

Try this link to a live performance of Coraline with an excellent translation, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e5imntKYsJ3dfYk.html This is one of my favorite songs, period, let alone from Maneskin. Made me cry the first time I understood it, and it has great poetic lyrics, with tragic and dark themes. In my opinion a true masterpiece.

I appreciate your reaction but you cannot react to theirs italians songs without the transalation of the lyrics. In Coraline you loose the 70 % of her beauty.

Ok I liked your reaction bro, BUT please keep in mind that reaction to this song without the meaning is like driving a Ferrari using only first gear… like listening to IMAGINE or LET IT BE or BOHEMIAN RAPSODY without knowing the meaning… so even for your personal entertainment I suggest you to focus on the meaning and the poetry behind the melody and music.. otherwise a fantastic reaction to the lyric breakdown
