I have never seen a violinist this emotional before. There's no possible words to describe how beautiful he played this masterpiece. Seriously, every crescendos and decrescendos were really smooth and reflect the pure romance and feelings no words can ever describe. He seized this song. Every seconds in this video is ever so precious.

what a passionate and characteristic transcription - full of violinistic virtuosity - yet not deviated from the original beauty and elegance of Chopin. bravo to both the composer and violinst

Jude2353 I’m an amateur cellist, & I feel the same! Wondering if an identical version of this is even possible on a cello... if not, I’d settle for a very similar one- when I’m experienced enough to attempt it. Just gorgeous....

I was just playing it and the right hand made me think of double stops on the violin. This is the only version I found. I wish more violinist and singers would do it. Chopin's first love was the opera.

Does classical music give any one else a feeling that they can't describe? It's like all of the problems in the world are gone and it's just the music and you. I can't help but smile and close my eyes.

Aarya shah Here he is playing Chopin Nocturne Op. 9, No. 2 with mustache & a few grays, some years later. : ) It’s interesting to compare his playing as a younger & older violinist. His brother Erin is a cellist, fellow composer (like Colin), and I think conducts a bit as well. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aK2PrcapuNe-k58.html

It may have to do the Sarasate transcription, where he added a tiny bit too much showmanship and Spanish flair. The more popular Wilhelmj transcription of 27-2 is closer to the original, and to me it's one of the rather few nocturrnes along with the no.20 you mentioned that sound right on the violin. Certainly better than the 9-2, which sounds corny on the violin...
