I was a kid in Detroit and I loved Jacques Demers and will never forget him. His life story is rather compelling and I respect this man very much.

Demers could read or write. Imagine that. Great coach.

Tell you what fellow Habs fans...Serge Savard at 75 is smarter and more capable than Bergevin the class clown. When you look at his tenure, he ran a dynasty compared to the current organization. He went to the final 4 in '84, won the cup in '86, lost in the finals in '89 and won the cup in '93. The minor league team also won at least one championship in that time (and probably more). They did have 3 or 4 years when they made bad first round selections (all from the WHL for some reason) but most of the time they had quality players coming through the system constantly. Smart signings, consistency through the system (minor league team(s) played and taught the system of the NHL club) and a first class organization that any player would love to be a part of. And now we are the Hartford Whalers...just another middle of the road team who once in a while flirts with having a good team. It's sad what's happened to this hockey team. (early 2121 success notwithstanding).
