It's important to know that this automatic winding timepiece can be manually wound should it power down. To do this, when the crown is in it's first position flush to the case, turn it approximately 20 times clockwise until you see the seconds hand start to advance or the balance start to beat. At this point you can let the automatic winding system of the watch take over or you can fully energize the 43 hour power reserve by continuing to wind the crown. It's important to note that should you wish to fully wind the watch manually and see the power reserve fill up, you cannot over wind the timepiece. The movement features a bridle style mainspring that will slip and release any excess stress.
It's also important to note that the watch features a radial date which can be corrected using the dimple on the edge of the case and the dimple tool included with the watch. It's important to note to never manually correct the date between the hours of 10pm and 3:30am. These are the hours for which the automatic changeover mechanism of the watch is engaged to change the date. Attempting to manually advance the date while in change over can severely damage the timepiece.
The Master Ultra Thin Réserve De Marche is rated to 50m water resistance which is rated for splash, rain exposure or light bathing. However, the watch should never be used for diving or impact with the water as the shock created can overcome the seals. It's important to note that any watch with a leather strap should not be exposed to water as leather is a porous natural material that will rapidly degrade after exposure to water. Should the watch be exposed to detergents, cosmetics or salt, it should be cleaned with fresh water immediately after.
With respects to water resistance, this reflects the rating only when the watch leaves the factory or after a service with an authorized service center. Water resistance is not a static feature and it naturally degrades with time. Jaeger-LeCoultre recommends having a water resistance test preformed every 12-24 months to maintain the 50m water resistance. Moreover, it is important that when the watch is wet, the watch shouldn't be wound or the dimple pushers should not be used. Using these can introduce moisture into the watch.
The metallic hairspring of the timepiece can be magnetized if subjected to extreme magnets such as those in speakers, refrigerators or MRI machines. Should you believe your watch has been magnetized, Jaeger-LeCoultre recommends taking the watch immediately to an authorized service center where they will have specialized equipment to demagnetize the watch.
With respect to service, Jaeger-LeCoultre recommends service every 2 years by using an authorized service center or boutique. These service centers will have properly trained personnel, proper equipment and factory parts to maintain the investment and functionality of your timepiece.
