जाफना के लोगों ने सदैव विध्वंस देखा है, विध्वंस्कारी आये-गये लेकिन जाफना और उसके लोगों के वैभवशाली गौरव को संपत नहीं कर पाये। वे आज भी उतने ही वैभवशाली है जितना कभी अपने स्वर्णकाल में थे , यहाँ के लोग आज भी उतने ही जीवट हैं।
यहाँ के मन्दिरों ने भी कई वार झेले हैं, लेकिन आज भी वे उतने ही दिव्य है जितने आक्रमणकारियों के आने के पूर्व थे।
चाहे धर्मांतरण करने वाले विधर्मी पुर्तगाली हो या डच या श्रीलंका की आर्मी जाफना के लोगों ने कभी अधर्म के झुकना नहीं स्वीकारा है।
कुछ ऐसी ही कहानी है यहाँ के पवित्र धार्मिक स्थल कण्डास्वामी मन्दिर की।
The people of Jaffna have always seen destruction, destroyers have come and gone but could not destroy the glory of Jaffna and its people. Even today they are as glorious as they were in their golden age, the people here are still as courageous.
The temples here have also faced many attacks, but even today they are as divine as they were before the invaders came.
Be it the portuguese or the dutch invaders or the sri lankan army, the people of Jaffna have never accepted to bow down to unrighteousness.
The holy Kandaswami Temple has a similar story.
