I stopped playing Runescape about 5 years ago but just jumped back in with FSW and am loving it so far. I agree that there's going to be massive economic upheaval when things merge, but people also know the exact date that will happen already. I also think it's going to be difficult to get used to not having the passive restore, infinite run speed, etc. boons once things transfer over. I still think it's worth it over all to get new / returning players back into the game. I also really don't think it de-values other people's accounts. People have used DXP weekends, treasure hunter, events, etc. to level already. This event may be longer than others but compared to all of those events giving extra XP over the 15 years it still isn't even close. There are also many parts of the game that aren't affected much by FSW boons such as quests, time gated mechanics (ports, anachronia for example) and others.

My main account has 120 in every skill, and I can tell you that it doesn’t devalue anything for me. If you want to complain about devaluing anything, the only culprit is MTX. Fresh start worlds is the least of our worries for devaluing anything

more maxed accounts = more people doing late game content = more stable game. you have no idea what its like to be stuck in a non maxed account for 20 years. or jump into this game brand new and have to catch up with 20 years of content with no help. fsw will save this game. and help the game go further into the future

rs players need to get out of the mindset of "my account means more cos i grinded harder" it doesn't, and i'm a maxed ironman saying that.

Fresh start was meant for new players though so you talking about market crashes is a problem mostly caused by the old players who decided to make 1 even 2 or 3 on fresh start

The exp advantage pales in comparison to the opportunity cost of having the last 20 years to gain exp. If the league is 6 months of 1.5x exp, you could've grinded for an equivalent nine months and you would've lost 3 months of time... That's negligible over the course of the average Runescape player's active play duration. Also other people gaining access to things you have (particularly things like 200m in all skills which don't do fuckin anything at all) does not devalue your time, it just makes you less able to gatekeep your stupid "prestigious" achievement

this happened 100x over, runespan came out and devalued my 99 from rcing astrals. and yet these complaints come without stating the elephant in the room. Treasure Hunter. FSW is nothing but a fun game mode that has given a lot of older players a chance to play new low level content at an increased rate. with the added benefit of maybe some new people or lapsed players returning.

They should add a label for fresh start accounts. Like add an icon in the chat, or maybe something in the examine interface. So that players can distinguish between normal and fresh start accounts when they get merged into the main game. That would help with the cheapening of original accounts.

I disagree. I’m Happy my new friends can level up quickly and play end game with me. I’m a max player and always tried to convince my friends to play but the grind was too long but they’re giving it a shot now.. It doesn’t affect me any. And doesn’t feel like my account is devalued.

Anyone that thinks the xp rates in fsw are higher than the main game is completely oblivious to how the game works. As for people saying it devalues their time, the xp rates have risen for all skills massively over the last few years. Fsw won't have a dent on your accomplishments, people already out gained you in a fraction of the time. The things people don't seem to look at is the accuracy buff, like wtf is that shit. It's crazy powerful. By far the most questionable part of the entire thing and no one even mentions it.

I really don’t see how this was supposed to bring in new players at all. If I’m new to joining the game and the only experience I know is Fresh Start Worlds then why would I stay on the main game when the event is over? Boss and PVM drops are going to crash significantly and all of the players who say it won’t have a lasting effect is just coping, it takes 1 bad apple to ruin the bunch and the amount of players that are stacking items with 10+ accounts are going to make the economy even worse when they combine the servers. These players with 100s of billions of gold are running the economy right now and Jagex just gave them an easier way to make money.

I don't think it's devaluing main accounts on RS3 because the increased experience rates don't mean much when you are at level 20 fletching and there are 0 arrowheads on the market and you have 0gp anyway. Even at 2x exp in Fresh Worlds I'd imagine you could gain more total xp in main RS3 in the same amount of time just because you'd already have higher than 1 level in the skill and have access to infinite resources from the GE. Main RS3 is just way easier than Fresh. There is also no flood of items coming in from Fresh worlds. You'd be lucky to find any of the items you want to get on the GE on Fresh. In afew weeks the scourge of Invention will be disassembling most of the game's economy too lol. After 20 years of main Runescape there is no way afew new accounts for afew weeks will have any meaningful impact on the items in the main game.

I diagree it is devaluing accounts, there have been literal years of DXP, bonus xp, microtransactions and supply of items. People are seeing such fast xp rates because of powercreep and RS3 is a much faster game than it used to be. We're only at a 50% bonus and we see DXP 4 times a year now. It's much faster to max by pulling out a credit card than it is to play FSW.

Not doing things like Fresh Start Worlds is also bad for the main game. Im having a blast and I recognize myself as a majority. 15years veteran btw lol

The game is really hard to get into because of its long history, FSW helps remedy that a little. Now does this devalue people who somehow maxed starting two years ago? True... I don't mind grind as long as it isn't like 2k+ to unlock all content you want in skills alone like osrs is in rs3 that can easily be under 1k hours... And fsw is a good invite even if you only play 3-6 hours a week I only play 4 months now I did lose my old acc

coming from a player with a 19 year old account. does it really matter about the boosted exp in fresh start? you can just buy a max cape for a few 1000 USD worth of TH keys i was grinding my 99s in RSC and RS2 now you can just get 20 million bonus exp from lamps and stars.

Your first point "devaluing maxed accounts" has 0 leg to stand on man. There's already mtx in the game that let's people zoom to max stats. This game has all the content at end game and I think we can all agree the low level experience of the game is pretty bleak. It's all old content that hasn't been touched in years. If there was no mtx and they actually spent time making the early player experience decent then I think that argument would make sense, but that's just not the reality we're in. But yeah your other points make sense for sure. It's gonna be wild to see what happens to the economy of the game when the other accounts come flooding into the main game. And I think the fomo element is pretty cheesy. The rare tradeable cosmetics being tied to this on top of needing a new account to engage in it are the biggest faults in my eyes.

Jagex did say that the items will be available again, but they didn't say how, or when. Could be a 0.000001% drop on treasure hunter. Could be another 20 years from now.

I actually don't see how my account means less. We've seen about a decade of P2W MTX but somehow I'm supposed to feel cheated by FSW? Hundreds of thousands of accounts, a few hundred thousand boosted ones won't make a difference.

Ngl, I've played since 2007 and I haven't valued my original rs3 account in years anyway. SoF or whatever they call it now made me completely stop caring.

A lot of players maxing in FSW are older players who are having fun competing and doing old content that they forgot about.

All the dxp weekends and mtx has already massivly devalued getting the max cape. A short term event with boosted exp rates will not change all too much

Okay, more gp/items = good.... more people = bad. Lets take a look at the fsw market.... it is annihilated, demand is SUPER high for simple things like fishing bait which was 25 gp last time I sold. If all these new items that are cheaply obtained flood the market, the prices for things will plummet.... on the main rs3 market, things are dropping because people are still coming over to fsw, demand is going down and supply is going up. Events tend to bring MASSIVE fluctuations to the economy..... look at the release of Glacor ALONE, Birds nests used to be like 7.8k... Glacor increased the supply of them so much that they are close to nothing to obtain

if it's mostly high level players and vets playing FSW then the prices on the main game will rise as they leave the game and stop pumping into the main economy then when the FSW accounts surge into the main economy they will likely just bring things back to normal....maybe... I doubt many new players are playing FSW and if they are they aren't likely to be farming Zarmorak at the end of 4 months anyway even with the xp rates/drop increases.

Imagine FSW devaluing anything when the best gp and xp per hour is simply working and swiping your credit card in treasure hunter. MTX has destroyed any sense of competitiveness in the game, I say let the returning/new players have it

All FSW accounts should have something like an icon next to their name to show its a FSW account like IronMen.

if i'm honest, i don't think it's going to make as much of an impact as hyped up to be. the lack of resources in some areas will help rs3, and tbh i think it's alittle over hyped panic. The only aspect i don't like is the halos 'potential discon' as there isnt any confirmed new season. They have stated 'we don't know if there will be another FSW' but then again what do i know. If it was up to me, diango would stock every rare, buy/sell at same price, partyhats, yellow> 1bn, Green > 2bn, Red > 3bn, White >4bn, Blue 5bn, Purple > 6bn (purple is the rarest from cracker). Same with santas and h'weens. I don't see an issue with diango holding rares, it's not like the vast majority can afford anyway. Just before people moan and say, but you don't have rares, it's easy to say tht. I have rares, i'm holding rares and i'm happy to take the loss if this was implemented.

account "worth" is such a dumb concept that only really the runescape crowd seems to care about. its a game, we play for enjoyment. Your account value means nothing if people dont enjoy the game. RS is not the stock market. stop worrying about your account worth and just let people enjoy things.

It's a power play, and I get that. As a business, you have to continuously come up with things that will retain current players, while attracting those new and returning. Almost 20 years into the main game and I'm not at least bit worried about the economy. Crash and burn or Raise sky high,. Stay in the middle for all I care! As long as you enjoy your experience, none of that matters.

they should make an osrs fresh world thats x10 xp but never goes to main game watch everyone flock to it also and option to buy quests for millions to take coins out the game who likes quests

i disagree that it devalues the main servers accounts, those accounts value are naturally already falling, due to how bad their economy is, these accounts would have naturally alrady boosted so high in main servers due to how often they do dxp, tbh i wish they kept fsw accounts away from mainscape because mainscape is trash especially in the state that it is now, keep fsw as member only acess no f2p so people cant bot stuff as easily

Already switched to osrs because of this and I’m loving it. I still follow rs3 a bit and might play new content if it arises, but osrs is definitely a better experience overall imo

So a fresh world account devalues a vet main account because a fresh world account has the increased xp, it's not like they don't have the same opportunity to create a account take advantage of the xp and benefits of it afterwards

I think fresh worlds is a mistake,especially on your last point.Its been shown down the years many players quite when it starts to take so long on level up . Jagex would have been better updating existing skills ,seeing as so many players are now going/got levels 120.A very good video with some valid points.

Why I stopped caring and just play my normal account because we live in the reality of 2022 runescape: -Account devaluation from progress standpoint in current rs3 is irelevant. You can max in less than 12 months if you know what to do on normal account. - In terms of economy it will probably do something but it will hardly be level of economic disrutpion gwd3 did in last 12 months main problem won't be items but actual gold from all those alchables so I expect deeper inflation. - I honestly don't know if this will bring massive number of new players for a long time to the main game but I find it ridiculous that there is 25k accounts on fsw hiscore for constitution meaning there is at least 25k players playing it (since hiscores tracks const from level 15). -Jagex won once again I can't wait for another way how to f**k us with new mtx promotions and retarded design of new drop tables once this ends. Edit: Oh FSW hiscores is incredibly funny to watch we are 2 weeks in and 92 players have 200M magic xp which means there is already 92 gold halos locked for magic because only 100 top players for each skill get the gold halo.

Then let accounts with, idk, 48 hours gameplay reset their account to access the worlds/mode. One more thing. Merchers reek more havoc on the market than this mode will. This one is just IMO.

Sorry to shatter everyone's hopes and dreams, but there are some harsh truths you just need to know: Being maxed has no value anymore. Don't fool yourself or anyone else that it does. This game is 20 years old, with 20 years worth of powercreeping better training methods. By now there are nearly 200.000 maxed accounts. Being a maxed player is a dated accomplishment. You're not unique. Your achievement is not something that needs to be safekept and gatekept anymore. Runescape's content engagement is all in the endgame, and we all know how hideous this grind is, so it's only justifyable that jagex eases the grind to the interesting content, rather than ignoring the obstacle that deters people from playing RS3 in the long term and/or spending lots of working hours into content none of us even visits anymore.

its no different then earning xp faster with different newer way, or when they added make x, or any higher xp methods, if you earned your 99/120/200m before that to me thats an accomplishment to you rather then decrying new players with these faster xp methods

FSW is nothing but good for the game, only thing ruining FSW and new/returning players which it is MADE FOR are high level/skill mains hopping over to FSW to abuse ED3 and other veteran tactics in order to boost their accounts to max combat skills in 2 days. It’s highly demotivating seeing another prick go for 200M xp in a skill and telling “noobs to f off and don’t beg for a carry in ED3” I grew up with Runescape in it’s hayday amidst players like Zezima and the likes, took me over 15 years to return because it became so overwhelming and hostile because of maxed out accounts ruining the experience and economy.. And now after 15 years i got a fair shot again, together with a friend of mine, we figured out ED3 since nobody wants to tell you how/where to do it, and now we are boosting low level players to stick it to RS3 veterans and clans evening the odds day by day. Made my first 100M after 2 weeks of sweating and i try to help out any player that’s confused or overwhelmed i come across. So FSW is the best thing to happen to RS as of yet, because it’s the players of RS3 that ruined the game and it’s economy, not Jagex. It’s video’s like yours that make people not want to play because they don’t know where to start or what to do since it’s impossible to catch up to the maingame. So no, it’s not devalueing the mains who have everything and know everything, it’s making the game worth it again adding value to the players who could not catch up with the people complaining about a leveled playing field, and that’s great.

No shit….. imagine playing a 20 year old game at least half the consistent player base has beaten 10 or more years ago… just accumulating money that means almost nothing so why not make something that kinda dry’s out the other a bit then eventually when they merg people that quite before will quite again and it’s back to just regular old bullshit again 😂
