The stickiness seems to come from some very individual component of skin sweat, or more likely from sunscreen or skin lotion etching on the soft touch finish. Did anyone of you use that stuff on daily basis? I have an early 2014 and still have no issues at all.

I read somewhere this is because the polish on the buttons gets old due to heat. If you use lemon oil (used for guitars), it can resolve this issue without damaging the buttons.

Had mine nearly 4 years now. It always brings a smile to my face due to performance, noise and handling. Its not bad on fuel- if i don't get too "spirited" and has returned 31+ on a not slow long run. I spend far too much time polishing and admiring it so this summer it's going to get used more when the weather permits. 12,600 miles on a 2014 model. I have not used it much, but have REALLY enjoyed every minute when I did. Only prob was the fob sensor which was fixed under warranty and a new battery last year. Had loads of cars in my lifetime, but the F Type is by a mile my favourite.

Which cars gave you much more of a sports car experience? Why do you think it fails to deliver on this - does it feel too big or heavy, steering, grip levels, suspension, feeling of speed etc? I'm guessing it isn't the sound. You did mention the car had a lively back end which some might find exciting rather than unnerving. I never really considered one because I read / heard it wasn't really a proper fun sports cars but more recent reviews seem to contradict that. Opinions certainly seem to differ on it.
@PetrolHeadsLdn2 жыл бұрын

"it's quite vanilla, you're not going to get a sports car experience in this.." Every other KZfaq review of this car by owners and journos saying the exact opposite to you as they drift it around country lanes and tracks... So in you opinion it's vanilla, but not in everyone elses... I think by feeling that way after 3 years of ownership it probably says more about your driving style / ability than the car itself. No offence, obviously you are entitled to your opinion but I have a feeling you probably did not drive it like you stole it too often, if ever. I went for a spin in the v6s last weekend and definitely agree with every other review I've read or seen - it definitely Does give you the sports car experience, if you have the skills to drive it to its potential. Belgium chocolate with caramel and honeycomb chips
@PetrolHeadsLdn5 жыл бұрын
If you rag it everywhere it does have a spirts car feel but I think there are better experiences. Dont get me wrong it’s a great car but there are much better options. I also believe the V8 really gets the best from the chassis. The v6 is heavier than it needs to be and a few thinks like a rather large steering wheel etc. Just don’t add to the ambiance. They have already made improvements since the early ones. Remember lots of you tubers just do t do negative comments I’m just giving you a honest ownership experience. I’d say it’s a great GT car without the convenience.
@semicaaltoid49814 жыл бұрын
Yup. I've got an older air-cooled 911, which is even more of a sports car than the latest versions (if you care about steering feeling, light weight, etc.) and I found the "vanilla" comment fairly ridiculous. Having driven a V6 Jag, and numerous late model Porches, the Jag is soooo much more friendly and approachable on the limit. And yet, it can be very raw, like my old Porsche as well, with amazing and unfiltered throttle response and a great sense of connection to the road. Anyway, yes, youtube is full of people giving their opinions about the handling of a given car, while apparently driving 10 mph below the posted limit. We all know how to judge those opinions.

Appreciate the honesty about the boot in the cab F-Type. It's pathetic. The V8 is $1000 tune from 694HP and obliterates the V6. 2.8 secs to 60 mph vs 5.1 secs is the difference between supercar and slow passagenger car. The V8 has a racaus, incredibly loud and glorious exhaust note vs an annoying wail. You can't judge a car with cheap tires. The V6 doesn't need great tires, but V8 needs R888Rs or Cups. Simply put, the V6 sucks for the money but the V8 is legendary. It so strange that Jag seems to hate the car. Why are they sticking 2L 4-cylinders in it? Morons.

@@PetrolHeadsLdn While personally love having minimal or no "infotainmentment" system, I agree that most younger buyers mostly judge a modern car by how much of the "new phone" experience they feel when buying. IMO it is still worth doing driver-focused reviews instead of Doug's new style of 28 mins of "infotainment and interior" reviews, followed by 2 mins of driving review simulating running an errand to CVS. Millenials are lost when it comes to freedom, in general. They don't understand it, they've never experienced it, they don't know what to do with it, and frankly, they don't want it.
