Jaguar X-Type Shifter Repair: Gearbox Fault

Күн бұрынI decided to see if I could repair my own broken shifter. Many parts are plastic and eventually become brittle and break. Once the plastic components break they fall inside the shifter and impede operation resulting in a "Gearbox Fault" warning. It's my opinion that these Jaguars weren't meant to last long as they were built with too many cheap parts.

Thank you for an absolutely superb video, saved me hours of trial and error. One quick question I have, when I slid this top block with the S button off the gear lever, a plastic ball fell out from underneath it. It is a small a ball with a hole in it. I looked at the unit and at your video and I totall cannot figure out where it is coming from. Maybe you know?

Rex Sandifer: Just returned from a long overseas holiday. Yes, it worked as good as new. These units can be rebuilt. If I didn’t have I day job, I’d rebuilt these poorly designed shifters for people. Thx

@@goodamnesia I had my Jaguar patched for a few years now. Kings thinking about letting it go all together. I had gearbox fault and the other errors.
