Love the video Geoff I will be interested in how you get on with bonnet clearance. As you said, it’s going to be tight. Looks much better though 👍👍

on my XJR-100 and XKR I put a Cobrahead elbow in place of the Mina supplied one, much lower profile, same air flow

Hi. Did you have to cut the Cobrahead or the Mina air intake pipe to make it fit? Ihave 1998 XK8

Do your extractors and exhaust. Remove some of the mufflers leaving just the rear pair of mufflers. You should be able to get bolt on replacement extractors from England. Dyno-Tune her.

Geoff, what is your assessment of the intake? Would you do it again? Can you feel a difference in performance?

Good question. K & N air filter for sure. Ask me again later in the year if I would do it again.

That is a good question. The answer is yes but I would get a different Lower profile elbow at the throttle body end.

Hi again. I am def getting this but am also debating the Mina air filter vs the K&N filter. Mina says the plastic filter box itself is the biggest problem for airflow. Thoughts?

Stick with the original air box it gets cold air forced into it

Geoff: once it was fully installed, did you see any change in performance? How about intake sound?

Hi Richard. The Jag pulls really nice and smooth hard to say if it has improved performance. I do get really good fuel consumption now. No noticeable noise increase, even under hard acceleration.

Does your dash get any codes over that mod? I have to be careful in my state with smog inspection.

None at all. I also fitted a K & N air filter to help it breath better as well. I think it a good option to get a little bit more power.

It is a tight fit but no issues. There is available a lower profile fitting which I am looking into

I was seriously considering this but on another forum, someone raised the point that as it is aluminium it may suffer form heat transfer from the engine bay. The plastic one has a lower coefficient of heat transfer so may be better. Thoughts? I welcome any opinions.

I tend to disagree with that comment as cold air is flowing through the manifold while you are driving. Some conversions I have seen have a open airbox in the engine bay those do not work. I no longer join forums too many opinions and key board warriors.

So far no problems with the install. Engine seems to breath easier and I am getting good fuel consumption.

@@amartosresearch1934 thank you for watching. Fuel consumption I am getting is 9 liters/100km. Highway driving at a decent speed. Seems more responsive when I floor it. Very pleased with the conversion.

I found the engine breathed more easy after the install. Slight improvement on pick up and fuel consumption.

hello geoff, did you use a universal K&N filter for the intake or does it need a specific size?

Hi. I used a standard K&N from Amazon. K&N 33-2190 High Performance Replacement Air Filter

Installing this should have no effect on how it starts. Make sure you did not disconnect anything during the install

yes it did along with a K & N air filter. Pulls better at a higher RPM
