Jaigad village in Ratnagiri is very densely populated with nearly 3000 people. The main occupation of the people is fishing with nearly 90% of the people being engaged in fisheries and related activities. Some people of Jaigad are highly educated and most of them are working in different cities in India or abroad. The people speak Konkani and Marathi language . the village has a Jama masjid and three other mosques. Jaigad village is at sea coast and is protected from winds and sea currents naturally by the hills of Jaigad,
