There are three aspects of Russia that one needs to consider, says External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Speaking at an interactive session, he outlined those as historical experience, geopolitics and the economic factor. And in an apparent snub to the West (in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war), the minister said if he were to evaluate India’s relationship with Russia, he would do so based on his own experience rather than the experience and agenda of somebody else.

Wonderfully explained Dr Jaishankar.👏👏👏👏 The second point of geopolitics is very very important. Therefore, in this context, to h*** to anyone who threatens us with repercussions. Our geographical location in the world makes it imperative that we have good relations with Russia, especially when we have seen how the West has betrayed us in the past and also the experiences of other countries who were considered as 'allies!'👍

Way back in 1989 during winter at the Indian Antarctic Station Maitri we had an officer who had suffered two heart attacks. We didn't have a life saving injection. Neighbouring Russian station Novolazarevskaya had only one dose of that injection which they gave us without hesitation. On our side when an immediate surgery for perforated appendicitis was needed we helped out with our doctor an anesthesiologist. There were many such incidents in that remote continent.

It is true. neighbor’s neighbor is your friend. but if that neighbor’s neighbor is turning into a puppet of your neighbor than it is tough times for you. I mean just look at China Russia relations. In 1962 Russia helped but how much?? In the future China and Russia are going to solve their problems and continue to align their interests also Russia will turn dependent on China then it will be hard for us. Not saying Russia is bad, they are looking out for their own interests.

He is saying that they are "friends " with Russia because they need Russia's natural resources for India's future economic growth. It is not because they are truely "allies" in the strict sense of the word.

For that we cannot give up a time tested friend ; what if during the 1971 war Russia ( USSR ) had not sent it's Nuclear Ship to help India against the 7th Fleet of America & other warships of the UK , France , Germany etc in the Indian Ocean ?!! Bangladesh wouldn't be here today ! India would have lost the war and the REVERSE of 93000 Pak prisoners would have happened !!

First of all, it's not middle East. It is west Asia. West Asian countries have good to decent relationship with India. More of them are going to join BRICS, and so the relationship is only going to get better. The West may actually put sanctions, but it will only help India in the long run. We must not be cowards to live in fear. If they want to sanction, we can divest from the West and look for other markets. West has mostly been hostile and belligerent to us and we don't really need to do a lot of business with the West. And if they deport Indians, it will make them look bad and diplomatic relationships will be terrible. They get to lose a lot as well. You don't seem to look at the whole picture.

USA is always made up of immigrants and Indians bring value to the USA, they pay their taxes and have the lowest crime rate if you check the stats, that's why they provide lakhs of visas to Indians every year, did you see Indians protesting of every other problem of theirs??
