Scheifele would have had a better chance of stopping the goal if he had tried to play the puck or block the net with his stick... it also would have been the sportsmanlike/respectful play. Instead he decided to just plow into the defenceless Evans.

Ehlers is a good guy. But it was a dirty hit by Jets center--he wasn't trying to prevent the goal he knew he was late and he came with an elbow up to Evan's head. News is he is suspended for 4 games but he deserves that to be "the playoffs" and next year's pre-season, too. I love hitting. I hate cheap shots.

What was the end result of this? Was there an injury? Did he return to the game? Was there a fine/suspension?

First of all, I have no horse in the race, from and Avs fan. Watched it live, that was completely unnecessary. If Scheifele focused more on a poke check, he would have prevented the goal and prevented a SERIOUS injury. Big time charging. AND less than a minute left in the game?! Come on.

It may feel good to blame Mark Scheifele - but it's far more valuable to learn from Jake Evans' mistake. You cannot have your head down focused on the puck, with the opposition coming at you in the playoffs. I'll give you guys another example of a similar situation with Nikita Kucherov. In his first game back, he was on a breakaway at top speed with a Florida player on his back. He got the shot he wanted off...but after that, the uncontrollable momentum and pressure on his back sent him straight into the boards. He was very lucky to have come through that uninjured. But he learned from it...and later in the game, whenever he went to retrieve a dump or drive towards the net - he controlled his speed & had his "head on a swivel".

Why is Weber upset??? Winnipeg was down by 1 goal with over a minute left. If Scheifele checks Evans off the puck (the puck was on Evans stick when he gets checked, you don’t need to play the puck if it’s on the players stick) & the puck doesn’t go in the net, with 59.6 left. That is plenty of time for Scheifele t to pass the puck up to his forwards and they maybe score to tie the game up? I also don’t understand the 4 game suspension? The kid had his head down, Scheifele feet didn’t leave the ice. I’m not sure Montreal gets past Winnipeg if Scheifele plays the rest of the series? Montreal got on a run after Winnipeg. Though, Montreal was playing WAY above their heads! They didn’t even give Tampa Bay a competitive series. If that kid doesn’t score because of the check and pops bank up, there’s nothing to talk about. Clean hit, I’m not a fan of either Team but that was a very HARD clean hit. Keep your head up kid at all times!

Jets fan here, I was shocked after that hit. I'm hoping that Evans is okay, he was responsive and moving his arms which is good. I originally heard it was a 2 game suspension for ol' Mark but 4 games is fair.
