If live theatre can touch us in ways that film and lectures cannot... then Jake's Gift is the evidence.
A national hit, Julia Mackey's masterpiece has helped young people from Halifax to Victoria relate to Remembrance Day through a poignant story behind one soldier's grave Jake, a cantankerous World War II vet takes us with him to Juno Beach on the anniversary of D-Day. There he meets his match, Isabelle, a precocious ten-year-old from the local village. Mackey moves seamlessly between the two characters, generating laughter and empathy. We are honoured to present this theatrical gem about a significant part of Canadian history and humanity.
"Jake's Gift is the most theatrically pure show I have ever seen."
