Welcome back!
Could you imagine pulling into a show with an old Kenworth powered by a Detroit and towing behind you two John Deere repowers, also with Detroits? Well, that is exactly what Jake has in mind for his new truck! This 1973 Kenworth is decked out with all the options, including heated mirrors, dual pyrometers, and my favorite, Jake Brakes. Everyone on the farm is very excited about this truck, and we can't wait to straight pipe it!
Thanks for watching, and I'll see ya next time!

Oh? She's a 2 stroke? Interesting! That's where I get so confused! I really need to do some serious reading! The problem is that those big 2 strokers have overhead valves! Of course, I'm only familiar with 2 stroke petrol engines! Now, remember those teenie "glow" engines? Cox & Testors? They were essentially 2 strokes running on the diesel principal! Your fuel and oil was pre-mixed and sold as "glow fuel" you hooked a battery up to the glow plug and then disconnect once the engine was running! But those big 2 stroke monsters sure confuse me!! DUH!

@SpaceAce100 the dd 2 stroke engines have no intake valves, but they do have exhaust valves . Intake air comes into the cylinder near the bottom of the stroke the out the exhaust valves in the head.

I ran across a guy that ran a truck shop with a 9K GMC with a double turbo 12V in it. Had two 6V-71T exhaust manifolds and a turbo on each one. 733 horses to the ground and it was SWEET. The 9000 were some of the sweetest trucks made. Of course that was a long nose.

There is no torque rise in a Detroit, like a Cat or Cummins, so rpm's are where the power is. Back in the Mid 70's the Ontario 500 Truck Stop in SoCal had lines of these all chromed out. Cummins Kt450's, and Cat 3208 v8's. Like a giant custom truck show every weekend.

Many a night people have thought some hotrod was ripping by in the distance, but it was probably just an old Detroit at 2600 rpm. Just hold it to the floor and let the Allison do the walking after you start moving the shifter. You got a FINE rig right there as long as that smooth driver stays in it. Thanks and GBWYall!

Drove an old Detroit powered dump truck. It was a torque monster. Going up hill overloaded ( of course) it would be screaming away shaking vibrating then you realize it hardly moving. You could walk faster lol. We had a problem of spinning the hubs on the Dayton's and shearing the valves. These were only old site trucks so we welded lug nuts to the wheels on both sides of the valves to trap the wheels against the hubs. Could have 1000x20 and 11r22.5 mixed on the hubs what ever had the most tread. Never get away with that crap now.
