That truck should be in a museum. I remember when they were new and was shocked at the big round holes in the frame and the lack of a full floating rear axle. If I remember it has a Dana 44 front axle too. They improved them as the years went on and beefed them up and became good trucks. Had a 1982 F-150 4x4 with a 300 and a 4 speed over drive. It was a great truck and did everything I asked of it and some of it was more than I should have asked
@fwcjr81703 жыл бұрын
This one is a light duty 3/4 ton which had the light duty axles and springs. It was based on gvwr which I don’t remember what it was. The heavy duty 3/4 ton had a full floating rear axle and much larger front hubs as well. It was rated at 8600 lb gvwr. I agree with the other comments that this truck belongs in a museum or some collectors garage.
@1983jblack3 жыл бұрын
@@fwcjr8170 I disagree - Cars should be enjoyed not be stationary. There are differences as to how they are enjoyed. I'm not saying drive it and park in the driveway, but drive it and store it properly. But, opinions are like assholes, we all have one.

I cant tell you how many people I know that have gone through 3 or 4 brand new vehicles, meanwhile I'm still driving my 1/2 million mile classic American truck. And yes, I'm an autobody guy and the steel used for the body panels then Vs now, is night and day. The old trucks the beds were twice as thick as modern ones, surprisingly I've found the frames to be a bit beefier as well... A lot of modern trucks used stamped steel, its just a piss poor cheap way to do things.

Had an 84 Bronco full size w/plow that had been gone thru top to bottom. 351 windsor high output, automatic, limited slip rear end. All I did was plow with it. Never a problem. Back in 1980 I was working in Lake Placid during the winter olympics and this was what we had for trucks with every Bell and whistle that was offered by Ford at that time about 15 years ago I saw one had survived and was on the property of John Brown's grave and farm house.
