Great series. I’m working my way through it for my bow/arrow tune. For those of us amateurs who still have some draw length inconsistencies would you recommend using a limb driven clicker to ensure consistent draw length when it comes time to shoot @ 30 for the fletched bare fletched bare method of determining nocking height?

Brilliant and informative video's. Really very helpful.I would like to ask about bare shaft tuning. Do the bare shafts always have to match the arrows you are shooting, i.e length, spine, tip weight? If you shorten your shafts to make them stiffer for example do you also modify the bareshafts?? Kind rgds Stu

I can't thank you enough for finally - FINALLY - being the guy that says "a 2020 recurve setup is just not the same as a 1990 recurve setup, so why are we using tuning advice from 1990?" The tuning process is confusing enough for a beginner already! I just sat here with my mouth hanging open and my mind blown, because I shoot beiter nocks, and my nock height has NEVER been 'right,' because once I hit the top of the 'acceptable' range, I quit raising it (even though the bareshaft was showing 'nock low') and assumed that the problem was my technique. I know my technique needs work, of course, but this would definitely explain some frustrations I've had for literally years, thank you. 😭👌👍

Thank you for this Jake. Now that you do BareBow, which nocking points do you recommend? I can imagine with the changing string angle w/ string walking you’d need a wider nocking slot. That would seem like a moveable nocking point would be good. At least until you discover the required width.

Hey Jake, I just replaced my epic stick on arrow rest because I installed the old one too low. Now my plunger is touching the side of the arrow like it should but now I'm hitting the target 5 inches higher. Do I need to change my knocking point or just walk further down the string? Currently at 18 meters I'm walking down 1 1/8". It seems I'll need to walk down another half inch in order to shoot center. The top of my lower knocking point is 1/32" below the rest height. Thanks for all your help. You rock!

Here I go again. I've gotten no further than 3:40 and - guess what - this video is going on my wish list for the "Things newbies need to know, but nobody tells 'em" Kaminski mix. It's got bow square and how to use it right, it's got tied nocking points (not brass - who knew!?) and it's got "straight line push = bad idea" Boy did I waste a lot of time shooting without understanding any of this.

Hi Jake, what a timing for this tutorial... I had just ordered my first set of Beiter nocks, which arrived yesterday. Watched your video last night. Heard your comment about the higher nocking point for Beiter nocks. Without that information from you I would have really been wondering today about what is going on with my form (never would have guessed that a nock can have so much influence). I had to raise my nocking point 1/4"!! What puzzles me is that I'm a barebow shooter with 3 under, however, I'm only crawling 1/2" below the nock for 18m indoor with my setup. So what I'm really wondering about is that the asymetrical nock should actually be made for hooking below the nock with a 3 under hook. Do you see any drawbacks in having to shoot with a higher nocking point caused by using those nocks? There's quite a lot of pros (barebow or recurve) shooting them as far as I know. BR Michael P.S. Thank you VERY much for all the info you're putting out!
@JakeKaminskiArchery
@JakeKaminskiArchery 4 жыл бұрын
Good to hear. I’ll talk eventually about the nocks and why to choose different types. Quick run down is the top Olympic shooters use the beiter out nocks a lot on the easton X10 shafts because they do keep the forgiveness up a lot. However if you look at the nock wrong you’ll robinhood your arrow and your average consumer can’t afford that to happen.
@mhenschi
@mhenschi 4 жыл бұрын
@@JakeKaminskiArchery Looking forward to hearing more about this. However, could you please give me a quick comment on "Do you see any drawbacks in having to shoot with a higher nocking point caused by using those nocks? " Also, I was surprised that I experienced having to raise nocking height, as I'm shooting 3 under. Your argument was that the "modern" way of hooking makes the arrow sit between the nock points almost symmetrical and that this is actually the reason why the asymetrical Beiter nock causes the nocking point to need to be raised. In my 3 under hooking the arrrow is pretty much sitting on the string asymmetrically, at least as much as compared to olympic style (I think you say old school) hook, where the bottom fingers have most weight/pull.
@JakeKaminskiArchery
@JakeKaminskiArchery 4 жыл бұрын
mhenschi it’s not needing a higher nocking point because of a modern hook, it’s needing a higher nocking point due to the shape of the nock. So regardless of the hook you will need a higher nocking point with the beiter nock.
@mhenschi
@mhenschi 4 жыл бұрын
@@JakeKaminskiArchery Thanks for clarifying. So the nock style actually would suit 3under hooking perfectly but it comes along with needing a higher nocking point. This again brings me to this question "Do you see any drawbacks in having to shoot with a higher nocking point caused by using those nocks?" Is there a trade-off, something like nock point needing to be very high (what you experienced), which causes a draw back which is worse than the benefit the asymetrical nock brings with it.
@mhenschi
@mhenschi 4 жыл бұрын
@@JakeKaminskiArchery Hi Jake, I would really very much like to hear your input on the question: "Do you see any drawbacks in having to shoot with a higher nocking point caused by using those asymmetric Beiter nocks? Is there a trade-off, something like nock point needing to be very high (what you experienced), which causes a draw back which is worse than the benefit the asymetrical nock brings with it." You said you stopped shooting them because you found your nocking point "ridiculously" high. So you must have seen a draw back in your case, since I don't believe you made that choice just because the nock point LOOKED very high.

Thanks ! I thought perhaps it was a stupid idea but I'd put it out there anyways lol.. But hmm the rest - spigarelli z/t revolution bow version - I can tweak that a little too.. Rests can be a definate influence.. Friday night at the club I noticed a fellow on the line barebowing mediterranean style and heard a little rattle every time he loosed. Magnetic style rest like mine - he said it was just hitting the riser but it sounded off to me. Took out my toolkit n walked over. Rest's arm axle nuts in the block were loosish. Arm had too much play up and down at its tip. Tightened those up as much as I dared - no idea how old the thing was and did not want to end up stripping the thread. But less play.. Did not hear the rattle when he loosed anymore. And he got back to me later after the club match and said his score was better ^^
