awd helps in Denver maybe not in az lv or la

I agree that the FWD version is more than enough for most. My 2005 was a FWD and my 2006 is an AWD. I've not seen that owners of the AWD are having issues, though. Especially if not towing. Scheduled maintenance involves "checking" the fluid and only replacing if it's starting to break down. From my experience, if you drain and refill every 50-100k you shouldn't have a problem. That being said, my 2005 FWD was a V6 base model and it was light and fast. My 2006 AWD is a fully loaded V6 Limited (including nav, 3rd row seat, etc.) and it is heavy and slow :)

@@MikeKayK it's risky buying a used one because most owners don't ever change the differential fluid. But thanks for the info. I have the 3.3v6 06 fully Limited in fwd hybrid. It's faster than my 02 Taco prerunner 3400

@@erniecarrasco9107 True, but assuming it runs fine, you can change the fluids when you buy it and it will keep going. The battery/hybrid system on yours is more likely to have issues than a rear differential that hasn't been serviced. I wouldn't worry about either, though. Even the least reliable parts of a first-gen HL are very durable. All these cars need to go 200-300k miles are regular fluid changes and a timing belt every 100k. And tires :)
