Ross was the only character that wasn't up for grabs. The writers said we imagined your voice when we wrote this character. So, no one else had a chance

I like Adam Sandler, but David was better for the role of Ross than Adam could've been. The only two people who I personally feel could have probably been better at being "Ross" than David Schwimmer are Keanu Reeves and Freddie Prinze jr.
