Tate you are so right. This book changed my life. As a reader it marked a time in my life where a book, the way in which was written, made me want to become a writer. I am working! The book was amazing. The film was and is my absolute favorite. I could watch it on loop! Tate, I’m so proud of both you and Kathryn. Being a southern woman myself, all of this is so relevant. Tell her to keep going. Waiting for #2. Love ❤️ from Alabama

@moose3400 The name of this piece is "Philly Dog" by Herbie Mann. It was released in the 60's and was a major hit.

Tate Taylor is SO CUTE! He may actually be the best looking director in Hollywood right now. Especially since so many of them are out of shape, bald/bad hair, old men with glasses (looking at you Peter Jackson!) -- Tate Taylor, can I be your boyfriend?

yes but thats the beauty of watching the movie, going into watching the movie you kind of expect one thing and get a pleasant surprise coming out of it. The trailer is just to attract people into watching the film, and thats just what it did. Great film regardless =)

@shananigansable You already went on one video complaining about virtually the same thing! If you don't like the movie, it makes no sense to look it up just to slam it down!! Can't you just find something else to do with your time?

Bluenote...I have only read the book....but why? Don't you like History? Don't you want us to be better? OK..I was raised by a wonderful black woman named Genevieve. She loved me, my mother did not. Please don't take that away from all of us white kids who learned love from a gorgeous black woman. Yes she was big, yes she was ignorant, but Lord, I thank Him every day for her! I am so blessed to have had a loving, kind woman to raise me...she taught me SO much!

I am black, and I deeply resent Homosexuals comparing themselves to what we went thru wanting equal rights. The Civil Rights movement was a real struggle. Homosexuals cannot compare what they are wanting to what we wanted.....to be acknowledged as Human. I resent what they are doing more than you can know!
@SousChef7711 жыл бұрын
No, they didn't. We have come SO far. Did you see Mia Love last nite? She was awesome! These precious folks paved the way for her. PLEASE do not diminish what they did....oh please!

I have not seen the movie, but I read the book...the ending was a real downer. I kept hoping for a zinger, to be uplifted, but it wasn't.
@1Nbillion81711 жыл бұрын
Funny...because I'm black as well and I think gays are justified in their comparison. Slurs,violence,self hatred,killings,being disowned by families, wanting to be seen as productive equal human beings...and the discrimination is accepted and even championed in some circles. I can't see how anyone who claims to have knowledge of civil rights could deny the chief similarities. I resent that more than you know!

It's an important part of our history how these black women loved these children no matter what color, rose above these horrible women they worked for, some of them were horrible, as Martin Luther King said, love , a heart, and a soul does not know a color, or gender, he was a man for the future!!!! and I have always agreed with him. My best friend growing up was black, we were sister's in our hearts and souls, I lost her to Hopkins lymphoma when she was only 33 my heart broke so badly, I wasn't myself or a long time, we lived across the street from each other from the age of 5 years young. I miss her everyday, we were inseparable, we were do alike too. My Mother watched her daughter when she had her first child at the age of 16 so she could finish high school. We were family ❤️.
