Ya, that's funny. He thinks he does relatively well in 1500. If he decides to run 10k in few years, Lookout. Really hopes he doess an indoor 1 mile before he moves up.

Yeah it’s amazing his performance in 1500 given he said based on his years of training data that he’s better suited to more endurance events such as 3 and 5 k. You can tell he loves the challenge of 1500 and that’s why he does it…. Just for the challenge.

All your interviews from this meet have been much more interesting than the other crews, it is almost awkward how unexpected/unique a lot of the questions are, you can see it on the athletes’ faces. However, they yield thoughtful responses. You’ve done it very very well here. Get this guy at all future meets.

The most impressive attribute Jakob has is his tempered intellectual comprehsion of of how each part fits into the whole. Many athletes kill themselves in training & subsequently underperform when it counts the most. As they say " attitude sets altitude " He's poised for more great things to happen.........

A great interview. Looking foreward to the next race, in Oslo. I think what Jakobs main point is that there is no reason to celebrate a great session if it doesnt accomplish anything specific - when it comes to building up the form to the next race or the season in general. It is like Ingrid Kristiansen said - people could beat her at training. But never in the races. They have a plan for the sessions, what they want to accomplish, what they want to get out of it, and the main goal is to always improve and get ready to win the world championship later this season. And obviously also to be able to chase records - when the conditions are there, and when he is fast enough. But like they say, a world record can always be beaten, but a gold medal you get to keep.

It seems "Olympic champion " is his baseline of expectations so only sees himself as performing "relatively well" at 1500/mile because he's still not at world record level. His mindset is best ever, and he knows he's got what it takes to tick off the longer distances (3000+) but the 1500/mile needs his focus now in order to have a chance at getting the best ever at those events.

The concept of confidence remodelled by Jakob. I totally get it because whether running or singing performance you pace yourself to the ultimate highlight. That said, on the right occasion it’s okay to smash a workout out of the park. Not because you’re proving something to yourself, but because you can. What a wonderful insightful interview.

I've heard that before, at lower level track n field. But apparently, it's true of really good runners, too, needing a result in 'practice,' to buff confidence. Course. He's a young man. And if he sees someone rising up fast, when he's 30, he might have to come down on this person in practice, too. Anyway. The view from the top must be pretty interesting for Ingebrigtsen.
