Ngl, I think the Jakob dive was a bit stupid. He could have hurt himself by landing weirdly or by just faceplanting especiallythis early in the season and coming back from an injury it just wasnt worth it. I also I think him not winning the Mile last week got in his head and didnt want to lose 2 races in a row.

Respectfully, I feel just the opposite about Ingebrigtsen's dive at the finish line. Doing so should be illegal. Logically then, every runner wanting to post the very fastest time possible should similarly dive at the line (which I totally disagree with). Of course I admire his heart, but it's a move of desperation that shouldn't be allowed.

if so it should be banned, but since right now is still allowed i don't see why it should be seen as a "bad thing". Its not the first time i see someone jumping in a endurance race.

Agree - he's a great athlete but I lost respect for him when he dived over the line. It seems to be happening more frequently and besides being desperate, I can't help but think it creates a dangerous situation for athletes closing in fast from behind.

So in American football the players should just let themselves get tackled before the touchdown? In baseball, they shouldn’t slide but they should just let themselves be counted out? In football? The goalie shouldn’t dive for the ball, but instead should just walk towards it and if he doesn’t manage to get it in time, oh well🤷🏼‍♂️? In sports you do anything and everything you can to win and if it comes down to a dive than that is exactly what you have to do, Jakob gave It his all which is literally the point of sports. Respect

@@pnutbutrncrackers it’s not like every single race is 0.03 seconds from first to second place. Diving at the line is exciting and we need more excitement in the sport. There is nothing unsportsmanlike about out-diving your opponent and if that’s what it takes to win I am all for it. If you’re not doing everything you can to win then why are you even participating in the sport? Track is based on pure statistics and clear rules and the rule is whenever the first part of your torso crosses the line, that is when you have finished. Athletes can do whatever they want with that rule to make it so they can have the best chance at winning. If it’s the difference between 1st and 2nd then why shouldn’t they do it? Also they are not poor parallel’s, every single sport I mentioned is based on running and they all have similar objectives which is to outplay your opponent, which often includes outrunning them.
