KINGSTON, Jamaica - Using his years of experience and his accumulated judgement of pace and accurate timing, jockey Allen ‘Bongo John’ Maragh brought the Patrick Lynch-trained Ability with a pulverizing run from 2 ½ furlongs out of 12, to win the 103rd running of the Jamaica Derby at shattering odds of 17-1.
For Lynch, it was his third victory in the Derby (The Bomber, Drone Strike), and for Maragh his second, with his first being Miracle Man.
Ability is a bay colt by Lion Tamer out of Disability Charm, who is also owned by Lynch.
