It's a few days before Christmas so when we went down to the Coronation Market for some Jamaican street food and some market shopping for Christmas dinner. We got to try a clever cup of mint tea with an ackee sandwich to start our morning off before shopping for fam produce. It was great seeing egg vendor 'Sexybody Eggy' who was still serving her golden eggs hot in the largest market.

I was born and raised in Jamaica until I was 12. I remember going to market with my grandmother on a weekly basis. This brings back memories. I watch some African vloggers and they show life in many countries on the continent. It is so amazing to see the similarities in the culture in Jamaica and Africa, it brings tears to my eyes. It is good to see how Jamaicans have kept many of the traditions of Africa in the markets, in language, music, and many other things.

Hi Steven and Jillian. We never met nor were we introduced but I feel as if I knew you both. Kurt was my lifelong brother of 30yrs. He shared his adventures with you with me and although not all together I became a part of it living vicariously through his descriptions of events. I also know you all encouraged Kurt to start his cooking/baking videos something I begged him to do for yrs. Lol. I love this video and I thank you for honoring Kurt with wonderful experience of delicious Jamaican, West Indian dishes and more. "The Book of Kurt" I will be following to see more. From Ronny

I am very happy to see Coronation market, I live in the US but my family sells and has been selling in Spanish Town Market since I was a child, I spent a lot of time helping them in that market and the proceeds from that market has immensely helped me to get to where I am today, I love market people gone to bed.

Stephen and Jillian, wishing you continued togetherness, prosperity & all that is good for 2022…it was hard for me when I first watched this vlog…I really could not comment until I watched it the 3rd time, as your intro had me away emotionally… I know you miss Kurt so much.. It only confirms the awesome friendship you both had.. The energy throughout Coronation Market was exciting to watch… From the black mint tea, the ackee & salt fish sandwich and seeing the fresh produce was nice, but that EGG Lady stole the show..Her winning energy did it for me!! Thank you for sharing and putting out relatable content that feeds us from a far🦋One Love🦋

Coronation Market was officially est. 1938 but this market was active at least 200 years before that. Our ancestors were there with their head wraps and long skirts bare feet. A lot of escaped and enslaved people flocked to market to sell. They would dance sing and have a good time. Africans doing their dancing and singing according to where they were from in motherland. Sunday was the official market day. Our ancestors 'stomping ground'. They should upgrade it though its a lot of walking and carrying heavy bags through narrow dusty passage ways. Many nowadays go the supermarket where everything laid out and packaged. You are in and out quickly. Middle income earners and above prefer to shop at supermarkets. This should be a designated historic site.
