Positive error: If a division on the vernier scale lies to the left of the main scale line, you have a positive zero error. Negative error: If a division on the vernier scale lies to the right of the main scale line, you have a negative zero error. then for zero error correction multiply the value of observed error with the least count and the finally to apply zero error: if its positive error then you subtract the product of least count and observed error to the final observed reading and if its negative error you add the product of least count and observed error to the final observed reading. hope it helps.
