This is a great example of how a cover can elevate a song. James Blunt does a very good job of elevating Katy Perry's California Girls. It has a really clean sound and is genuinely joyful and inspired.

J Po it's just down to the type of music you like. I personally prefer mellow songs, and Katy Perry's version is too upbeat for my liking.

Tom Lloyd fine. There are thousands of ways to cover a song but each song has a soul and it is best when it is put in its right style. You can wear a bikini if you want but its not the best you. This song need to be a bit upbeat to show how lively california gurls are. If you want real upbeat listen to Nicky Minaj.

James has been given a gift. I think he has a beautiful voice. I like many of his songs. Beautiful is one of my favorites.

gosh i just love when artist do songs that is in contrast to their genre of music. make it so wonderful to hear how simply the vibe and vision of the song could be changed by a different voice. love both versions.
