i am sure james would be so pleased his songs are reaching people for the same reasons why he wrote this song ,for his own father. As you say,if you cant see the brilliance in james blunt as a artist, regardless if you dont like his mucic personally,then you are not a music fan at all..

Did you watch them do a duet of this on the show finale? OMG it was so emotional and when Iam couldn’t finish it James carried on. Gosh it was heart wrenching!
@kellinorton7368
@kellinorton7368 Жыл бұрын
@@craftycrafter1960 I sure did watch it. I think I've watched it about 100 times since it aired. Iam had obviously been crying prior to the performance because he just didn't have the strong vocal that he normally has and with every line he sang he could barely hang on and then once he lost it, he couldn't recover. James Blunt was classy and held the song together without making Iam looking like a fool. The interesting point here is Iam is only 18 and lost his father a few months ago. James Blunt is an adult and he almost lost his dad and wrote this song for him. James's father is still alive whereas Iam has lost his. They are singing from two different perspectives. I give Iam a ton of credit for attempting this song on national TV even though he's still in the grieving process of losing his dad and fellow musician.

Every time I hear this song it reminds me of when I lost my mother from cancer she battled 4yrs by the time she passed she no longer looked like my mother. It hurts so much I miss her. I will never forget saying goodbye to her and seeing the tears fall down her face and hear her last breath. She held on because she saw her monster. Cancer was her monster.

My Father sadly passed away in 1997 when I was 15, two months before Biggie died. I'll be missing you by Puff Daddy will always be the song associated with that tragic year. 26 years later, cant quite believe how time has gone, but the raw feelings are still there when hearing this song. Thinking now suddenly I have to chase the monsters away and protect my Mother and Sister. I remember the night he left us. Two grown men saying goodbye.

My Dad passed away in 2017 from Alzheimer's. I had been such a disappointment to him and my Mom because of a decades-long drug addiction. My Mom also died from Alzheimer's in 2008. My Dad took care of my Mom during her illness never once questioning how much care she needed or what time of night she might need it. I had made a vow while I was incarcerated that I would one day make them both proud, but I didn't know about my Mom's Alzheimer's until I called home and told my Dad that I would be getting released in a short while. I had asked my Dad if I could speak to my Mom to tell her the good news, but he said that she couldn't come to the phone. Asking him why is when my life fell apart. He had kept my Mom's illness a secret so as to not upset me while I was still in prison. My Dad's "reward" for providing all of the care my Mom needed was his being diagnosed with the same horrible disease a few years later. Listening to this song has brought back a mountain of tears and reminded me once again of my failure as a son. I am so sorry Mom and Dad please forgive me.

@@fpalisse Thank you for kind words. The same thing has been suggested by my sister, but I've never had the courage to speak about myself to some one else. I have often thought that this pain I struggle with every day has been self-inflicted and in a way I deserve it because of the wrongs in my life. Maybe it would be better if I didn't live alone? The old saying about if someone else caused the pain that I've caused myself it would be impossible for me to let them continue on with their own lives. Please don't think that I'm some kind of violent person because I'm not, I was just trying to illustrate the severity of the pain I feel. Thank you Fema Jacob. Peace
