Some have said that Bonecrusher wasn't that good. But any fighter who goes 12 rounds with Holmes AND Tyson has to be good. Toughness, strength, determination, size, punching power, and a good chin will take a heavyweight a long way. Smith had those qualities in spades.

Anybody that said Bonecrusher wasn't that good don't know anything about boxing. He said it himself if he had listen to his trainer and let his hands go early he would beat a lot of fighters he lost to.But even with that he beat enough top fighters to up there with the best of his day..

What so good about Mr smith is he talks normal speaks properly not everyone else can say that. He was a good fighter he could take a hell of a lot of punishment and never quit.

His speed at times was his weak point but the fact remains he went the distance with some HOF’s and beat guys like Bruno . He was solid.

Bonecrusher was among the last batch of solid heavywieghts, highlighted by Mike Tyson and the presence of Holifield. When Tyson got busted It all went to hell due to promoters and alphabet boys creating a title for all contenders. Before Tyson they all traded belts with every other fight, Mike unified it. Afterward fighters like Bowe and Lewis looked for reasons not to fight each other and set the standard for protecting belts as opposed to defending them. Nowadays big American athletes are drawn to the millions made in the big 3 teams sports, where they're garunteed the riches. And as long as boxing refuses to be regulated by an international commission, I don't blame the athletes, why be cheated by pimps. The big heavywieghts typically look oversized and amatuerish (European) and the game has gravitated to the smaller athletes that can't compete in the professional team sports. This is good in the sense that those smaller fighters have historically been better than the heavies, without the recognition - now they got it.

Bone crusher was a very good to low tier great fighter. He fought everyone, has lots of notable victories to his credit..he destroyed undefeated Hall of famer Frank Bruno, Destroyed mike weaver, Destroyed Tim witherspoon and many more. But yet some how Mike Tyson never Beat anyone? It's funny how the media has downplayed this Era of fighters. When in actuality from 83' to 92 Might be Just as good as any 9 to 10 year time period in boxing. Definitely and easily the 3rd best time period for heavyweight boxing..the list of Champs and hall of famers is staggering from that time period let's just name a few, Bone crusher, Tony Tuncker, Tim Witherspoon, Greg Page, Michael Dokes, Tony Tubbs, Car Williams, Michael Spinks, Larry Holmes, Frank Bruno, Mike Tyson, Pinklon Thomas, John Tate, Mike Weaver, Razor Ruddock, Quick Tillis, Mitch Green, Buster Douglas,Trevor Berbick and I'm sure there's a few more. I'd say that division and time period was pretty stacked!
