attletales is an American game show produced by Goodson-Todman Productions. The program had two runs on the CBS daytime schedule between February 1974 and June 1984.[2] It was hosted by Bert Convy, with several announcers including Jack Clark, Gene Wood, Johnny Olson and John Harlan providing the voiceover at various times. Wood was the primary announcer during the show's first run, and Olson was announcing during the 1980s.
The show's premise involved questions asked about celebrity couples' personal lives and was based on He Said, She Said, a syndicated Goodson-Todman show that aired during the 1969-70 season. Bert Convy was awarded a Daytime Emmy for hosting the show in 1977. - Wikipedia
Deirdre Jenkins was James Brown’s second wife whom he married in 1970 and divorced in 1979. They had two children together, Yamma and Daryl. In 2014 Dr. Yamma Brown published Cold Sweat: My Father James Brown and Me that discussed growing up around domestic abuse.

For the people in the comment section complaining about James & DeeDee playing for the yellow/banana section of the audience, let me just clarify something for you: on both the 70’s & 80’s series of Tattletales, the yellow section was nicknamed the banana section for two reasons: 1) because of the color, & 2) because the people in that section were always going bananas when their respective couple won money for them (lol). Each week featured three different celebrity couples, & each couple played for a different section of the audience each episode by moving down the line in clockwise order, so since James & DeeDee played for the yellow/banana section in this particular episode, they played for the red section in the next one & the blue section the day after that, & so on until Friday of that particular week. Race has absolutely nothing to do with it (and this is coming from a black game show junkie btw).

Reelblack, I must confess, I had no idea James Brown was on any game show period. I'm a certified game show geek (and I'm proud of that as I am of being black) and I never thought y'all would put up anything game show related. Thanks for this. Btw, is there any chance y'all could track down the BET version of Triple Threat, plus the remaining episodes of Tattletales with James?

First! I watch this show sometimes on the Buzzr channel. This sounds bad, but it fascinates me to think about who is still living and/or who is still married. This show ran during the 1970's, so probably not many. RIP to Mr. Brown. I wonder if his ex-wife Deidre is still living.

I grew up watching this show!📺. It was one of my favorite game shows that would come on at 3:00..or 3:00 pm every day in SoCal. The host Very Convey was always asked by the Celebrities what was his Ethnicity and he would always reply " Black Irish".. Now...what the Hill Sam..🤬....siting James Brown and his wife Deedee in the Yellow 💛 Section calling it the 🍌section....why not 🍋?🧐

Seeing Mr. Brown on a game show is VERY strange. HA! Their relationship was tumultuous to say the least, but i won’t get into that. If anything, it’s cool to see JB on a game show during his “Payback” days. He must’ve had nothing to do that week. HA.
