I have this record since the day it came out. Completelt different than the original BeeGees but yet the same. Great soul sound. Also The Dark End Of THe Street. I have a CD with about 30 James Carr songs from Britain. It is Great. What an almost great unknown talent especially here in the Northeast. The South knows what great soul singers we had and still do.

There's a light, A certain kind of light, That never shone on me. I want my life to be lived with you, Lived with you. There's a way, everybody say, To do each and every little thing. But what does it bring If I ain't got you, ain't got? Baby, you don't know what it's like, Baby, you don't know what it's like To love somebody, To love somebody, The way I love you. In my brain I see your face again. I know my frame of mind. But you ain't got to be so blind. And I'm blind, so su very blind. Cause I'm a man, Can't you see what I am? I live and I breathe for you. But what good does it do If I ain't got you, ain't got? Baby, you don't know what it's like, Baby, you don't know what it's like To love somebody, To love somebody, The way I love you. Oh, you don't know what it's like, Baby, you don't know what it's like To love somebody, To love somebody, The way I love you.

Wonderful soulful version! I have a video of Eric Burdon and The Animal's version of this song, but this 1967 cover is great too. He sings in a way that Otis Redding did with some of his own words and interjections. My favorite covers of this happen to be 1960s people because each of their personalities come through in their versions, Janis Joplin's, for one. Michael Bolton's cover of it is often mentioned, but that one doesn't do it for me. A Portuguese person referred me to this version. I know many of the covers of this that you'd think I'd have known this one too, but I didn't. I also see on the sidebar a Chamber's Brother's version and that was a great band. Thanks for the video!

Hearing that slide guitar, I'm wondering where this was recorded. If it was in Muscle Shoals, and Duane Allman. This is good. There are quite a few fine versions of this song. This is probably as close to Otis as any. Dusty Springfield did it well too. Just a great song.
