Happy New Year's Eve! I thought it would be super fun this year to create a NYE colorful eyeshadow look using the James Charles Palette! Not gonna lie, looks kinda similar to the other look I created using the Unleash Your Inner Artist palette 😬 but it will be great for any of you wanting to do colorful NYE makeup!
Looking back I've had a lot of big things happen this year! I started a new job in September (although I don't ever talk about my full time job on social media). I also moved to a new house in August! Both of those changes were exciting, but definitely disrupted my routine. Because of all the change I stopped exercising and eating as healthy as I was before. In 2019 I'm looking forward to really putting my health and fitness back as a priority!
I also got to go on some pretty fun trips too! We went skiing in Montana, I went to Disneyland (twice!) and Hawaii twice too! I love being able to travel and I have some pretty fun ski trips already planned for 2019.
One of the craziest things that happened to me was being chosen out of 17,000 entries to be in Benefit Cosmetic's Best of Brows contest! It gave me an opportunity to talk about trichotillomania (an impulse control disorder I have where I pull out my brows and eyelashes). Younger me would be mortified that I ever publicly shared about my disorder. But I was truly astounded at how much awareness it brought. Not only to my audience, but to other KZfaqrs too! While I didn't win the contest I came away with new friends, a rejuvenated passion for makeup and $500 from winning the Most Spirited award!
I don't share all these things to make anyone else feel poorly about themselves. I share them as a reminder to myself that it's been a great year. This year I've really struggled with anxiety and depression. I've also struggled with figuring out what the point is in me continuing to create content on KZfaq and Instagram. I'd be lying if I said it didn't wear me down.
But honestly, my greatest blessing in 2018 has been my channel! It's allowed me to connect with all of you and given me the chance to actually get to know you. I'm always amazed at how many of you tell me that the positivity in my videos brightens your day. You have no idea how many rough days have been turned around just by reading all of your kind and supportive comments!
I'm SO excited for 2019! I know there's going to be some really bad days. But there's going to be great ones too! There's going to be lots of fun memories made, and I can't wait to document some of them on my channel! I am so thankful for each one of you, and all the love and support you have shown me this past year! I'll see you in 2019 😊

Me too! I was playing with my butter London glazen both in oil slick and frosted... beautiful, but I have to remember to lay down some powder first, because there is some glitter fallout.

I'm so happy to hear that! I think so much happens in a year that we often forget everything that we did. I know it really made me appreciate this last year - although my recent memories were filled of days feeling depressed and anxious. I had forgotten all of the amazing trips I took, relationships I built and memories I made! So I was really grateful to be able to reflect on that 😊

Thanks Vivian! Happy new year! You can easily use one of the shades from the palette instead of the Stila glitter. I just wanted to use some bold glitter and I felt like just using an eyeshadow wouldn’t do it for me. But I’d love to see how your recreation turned out! Tag me in any photos if you post them ☺️

Thanks Olivia! I got a lot of feedback on my last tutorial that providing such a detailed explanation was really helpful so I intentionally focused on doing that for this one too. Loooove this look, you’re so talented! The colors really pop, and I love a good glitter cut crease! I love what you said at the end about looking back on the year, it’s so easy to forget the little things. I have a little jar full of moments that made me happy throughout the year, a project I’ve been doing since high school, and it really helps me think of the year gone by in a more positive light, since I too have bouts of depression. I always find your bright coloured eye looks so inspiring, that I actually got a palette full of bright colours to try. I'm not very good at make up, but I thought I'd give it a go. You also inspired me to go to a Disney audition! I only made it to the first round, but it's given me confidence to try again. Thank you for your videos, they always make me happy when I watch them!!

You are so nice! Thank you! Honestly it's taken me years of practice and plenty of trial and error to get where I am today. And I'm still learning! I would just encourage you to start playing with makeup - even if you don't end up leaving the house. The only way you can get better is by practicing 😊 and that is so awesome!! I think the first audition is the hardest. Despite how many videos I watched on KZfaq explaining what it's like I still feel like I wasn't fully prepared. But once I went to the first one I felt way more confident at the next ones. And you should definitely go again! It took me four tries until I was hired, and I had a friend who went to over 20 auditions over several years! So definitely don't give up on the first try 😊

They're SO pretty! I love them! Putting on false eyelashes takes SO much practice. I started wearing them on a daily basis about 5-6 years ago. So I've had a lot of practice!

Another beautiful look I am going to have to try! You really suit these colours and your instructions are very thorough! Thank you for sharing all these tips, they truly are valuable and can be applied to any eyeshadow looks. One thing I am going to do next year is go to a Character Performer & Face Character audition for Disneyland Paris! It will be my second attempt and as nervous as I am, I will give my best. Thanks Laure! And that is such a great goal! Honestly, I went to four auditions until I was hired. It's VERY common for people to have to go to more than one. I had a friend who went to over 20 auditions over several years before she was hired! So don't feel bad about having to go to a second audition!

Happy New Year! :D So true, there will be good times, but there will also be bad times and for me its about keeping it all in perspective and letting God work in my life, and the other people in my life, in His time and I know that if I keep trekking on, everything will work out for the best even if it doesn't seem so in the thick of it :) Also, I loved that red with black sequins dress you wore for Christmas! Also. with the Overboard look that you posted back around Thanksgiving, since I don't personally wear makeup (but I do love watching your videos ^_^) my friends want to give me a random makeover one of these days and I love that rainbow-mermaid look! Oh this is such a pretty look ! I was lucky enough to get my James Charles pallet . At 56 I’m kinda of new to all this blending but you are a great teacher. My young niece laughed when she heard I bought this pallet saying I’m too old. Honestly I cried. But now that I’m over that , kinda, I’m going to go practice! Thank you again sweet lady!

Thanks Deanna!! I don't think I do, but I might. I have a lot of the older Morphe palettes (before they started coming out with the collaboration palettes), but I haven't used them in a while. I honestly have SO many palettes I forget all the ones that I own 😂 it's bad!

Thanks Jessica!! The main thing that causes flashback is sunscreen in foundation (or moisturizer). Either that or if you’re applying a loose setting powder and don’t completely wipe it away it causes it as well. I hope that helps! Happy new year! 🥳

I originally thought about using the shade Wig or the shade Face! I really wanted to use a lighter shimmery color in the inner corner and those were the two I was thinking about using!

I'll be totally honest, I watched the first season and planned on watching the second but life got busy and I totally forgot to keep up with it! I really liked the plot though!
