The Late Late Show with James Corden

2 жыл бұрын

Inspired by the night's guest, Melanie C, James kicks off the show wondering which "Spice" various Late Late Staffers would be. Then after an update from writer Nate Fernald on his extremely amorous t-shirt business, James dives into the news - but is quickly derailed when the topic of American Thanksgiving food arises.

Each week night, THE LATE LATE SHOW with JAMES CORDEN throws the ultimate late night after party with a mix of celebrity guests, edgy musical acts, games and sketches. Corden differentiates his show by offering viewers a peek behind-the-scenes into the green room, bringing all of his guests out at once and lending his musical and acting talents to various sketches. Additionally, bandleader Reggie Watts and the house band provide original, improvised music throughout the show. Since Corden took the reigns as host in March 2015, he has quickly become known for generating buzzworthy viral videos, such as Carpool Karaoke."

Ade, don't laugh at James not understanding Thanksgiving. When I first married an American - being French-born, I knew nothing about the holiday. I showed up at my mother-in-law's house dressed to the ninth and brought chocolate. I noticed all other guests wore jeans. The table looked beautiful and everyone sat for dinner at 2:30 pm??? I had just had lunch! Nineteen minutes later, all the guys left the table with their plates to watch football. What the hell?

@@ader6673 Well I hope you thought my own story was funny because we all had a good laugh about it. Same here! They did a poll on BuzzFeed (not the most accurate statistical tool, I know) but candied sweet potatoes were actually more prevalently cooked than the marshmallow yams. I can also guarantee that the very way my family's meal is cooked today is exactly the same from a couple of hundred years ago. Thankfully someone took pictures, and jotted notes in a cookbook, and you can tell it's all the same food. The marshmallows, I think, are a Great Depression/ mid century thing. Some families never really got beyond it.

I never heard of marshmellows in thanksgiving dinners. And its ridiculous to use other than at the end of a stick over a fire or with peanut butter.

Marshmallows go on “candied” yams. It’s literally on a desserty dish.

Bubble and squeak is actually a dish in the UK and it would be better off with marshmallows on top

Don’t have a dry turkey. Deep fry it. Will never go back to cooking them in the oven. Makes the white meat as juicy as the dark meat.

The trick is to put it in the oven upside-down, so that juices go to the top of the turkey meat and keeps it from drying. So many people cook it wrong then complain about it being dry...it baffles me

When people are out shopping for the holidays remember how difficult the pandemic has been for small family owned stores. I hate Turkey, pie especially pukin pie, bread stuffing and sweet potatoes that have been cooked in sugar then topped with more sugar. We have fresh seafood for the holidays.

can't we go back to the 1850's where we had roasted goose leg for Michaelmas with red cabbage and roast potatoes ? or how about some nice pan seared duck breast with blackberry sauce & apple soufflé 😏
