This video comes from the bonus disc of the DVD documentary, James Dean: Born Cool, produced and directed by Denn Pietro & Denver Rochon. The DVD is available at the Fairmount Historical Museum.
James Dean:Born Cool was the first documentary executive produced by James Dean's cousin and head of the Dean Estate, Marcus Winslow. Because of the tremendous kindness of Marc, the documentary was given access to whatever was needed to put out an honest documentary about Jimmy featuring his closest family and friends.
These rare photos are being seen for James Dean fans for the first time (except for those who already have this DVD). Marc Winslow was kind enough to allow us access to the family photo albums to make this great documentary. Thank you to Winslow Family, James Dean Artifacts and James Dean Inc.
Thank you for helping to preserve James Dean's legacy!

Deans career was mapped out...he was streets ahead of McQueen, Hopper, Newman, the rest of his peers etc...he was already on the way to becoming a great actor...he offered up something different to Brando and Clift too...he was an original...his performances had an energy and expression better than anybody at that time...he was only 24 and played a 48 year old in Giant...he has an amazing range for such a young man...and that poetic face...man he had it all...and Hollywood knew it...but there was a foreboding presence about him, a certain look in his pained expression that simply was not meant to last long...I think he suffered a lot personally but my he left a brilliant legacy that lasts up to this day...RIP Jimmy Dean♥️x

Stoker films...Agree with everything you say.. EXCEPT.. I think it's kind of unfair to put Dennis Hopper in same group as Clift, McQueen, etc. Even though he had the exceptionally good fortune to appear with Dean in 2 of his 3 films, he was younger than the rest. Dean was to Hopper what Brando was to Dean. I don't think Hopper a peer, since he was several years younger than the rest. But, this is solely my opinion and my intent is not to be nasty, so please don't take it as such.

I don't know why or how it turned out that there are so many pictures of James Dean, but how wonderful! He was a natural actor. Handsome, photogenic and extremely sexy! R.I.P. James Dean

James Dean worked extensively as an actor, participated in 37 TV productions in just five years, did theater, commercials and movies, and even had time to buy cars and participate in auto racing. He was a workaholic. The boy of rural origin, with unkempt hair and a little sloppy look, drew attention in NYC and Los Angeles. Youth was launching a new fad, a new pattern of more rebellious behavior, which in the next decade would result in the hyppie movement. Dean was part of this new generation of actors, more human and realistic, that was emerging and gave a new breath to the old Hollywood. He liked to take pictures and at the suggestion of Nicholas Ray, hired began to hire professional photographers to accompany him.

The music is the best part of this video. James himself wouldn't like most of these photos included. I would agree.

Music and poetry which beautify the dark side of this one of a kind movie star icon. Brando survived with a lifetime of pain. Jimmy Dean probably cut his life short because he had the gift of clairvoyance. It was simply being born in the wrong era. Someone like Richard Chamberlain was what he needed to navigate through the ups and downs of fame and Hollywood stardom. I also believe that if he had been a classmate of Andy Wood things could have turned out better for both men.Genius masquerading in a world that could not truly appreciate them.Natalie Wood could have been in a "Will and Grace" sitcom if born in another decade. Destiny can enhance or destroy the final outcome.

Great video. Amazing. You have very particular taste in music. Have you heard of American Football (had a self-titled album in 1999) or Algernon Cadwallader or old rare Modest Mouse? I think you might appreciate some of those. The Smiths and Oscar Wilde remind me of James Dean a lot. Or make me think of him anyways.

Must agree about music. Watched video several times because I love the pictures and because of cousin Marcus Winslow. I am Really trying to say that I love everything about the video. BUT, I just can't. The music is awful and just doesn't fit.

I love the pics, but this music is freaking terrible. Anyone ever thought about using some of the weeknds songs for these Dean tributes.
