Worst part of it : he wasn’t a reckless driver. He actually did this to show people, especially teenagers who might try to copy him, that speeding wasn’t safe. And on the day the accident occurred, it was reported he was respecting the limitation. His last sentence was : « he’s (the truck driver who hit them) gonna see us ». Even in his last attempt to avoid the collision, he drifted so he would protect his friend on the passenger sit... He was a good driver, a good person, who had faith into people...

It was not a truck that hit him but a big car a Ford driven by Donald Turnupseed who was 23 at the time! Weird enough in saying take it easy it might be my life you will be saving! I when to the site of accident years ago as i was living not to far and it is obvious that the guy did make the right choice thinking he had time to turn!

Both James Dean and Donald Turnupseed were weaving in and out of traffic shortly before they collided. James Dean was coming over a spot in the road(incline/decline) that made it hard to see him from a distance, his car was built low to the ground, and the sun was in the eyes of Donald Turnupseed when he was making the turn. It wasn't the best design for a turn in the road in terms of safety. They changed the configuration of the road sometime after the accident.

Actually, its been scientifically proven that his speed was not as outrageous as at first thought. However, he was not going the speed limit. He was not particularly driving dangerously in the sense that the road in that spot (been there) Is wide open for miles through a valley. What happened was that his low to the ground silver spider almost disappeared with the sun beating down and causing a mirage effect on the road. The oncoming driver did not see him and possibly mistook him for heat coming up from the road and most definitely due to the sun that was in his eyes coming up from behind Jimmys car. The car he was driving was one of those big old heavy cars while Deans was ultra light and small. Made out of fiberglass, i believe.

James Dean an acting genius who left us way too soon at the age of 24. He died in a car accident while driving his Porsche Spyder 550 on his way up to the race in Paso Robles, CA on September 30, 1955 in Cholame, CA. He came to junction 41 and 46 when the driver going northeast on 41 slammed into Jimmy's car broadsided on left fender and driver's door. Jimmy saw him but neither car stopped. Porsche flew into the air and landed in a ditch. Jimmy did not survive but his mechanic barely did. They were less than 30 minutes from their destination. James Dean (1931-1955). Gone too soon.

Investigators said it was more like 70 in 55 MPH zone, which is still speeding, but here's my argument. Why did the driver of the car Dean hit think he could squeeze in front of the Porsche that was clearly flying down the road? He endangered himself also and got Dean killed, but he walked away unscathed because Dean's tiny Porsche carried all the momentum. Turnipseed was not paying attention and made a careless turn right in front of a moving vehicle on the Interstate, and killed one of the best actors from the tail-end of the Golden era of Hollywood.

Dean was going 85mph he was driving. Rolf was thrown from the car.
@alexcarratu5554 Жыл бұрын
@@romanreams1310, Rolf was thrown from the car yes, you're right. As for Jimmy's speed, no-one will ever know the exact speed he was going at the point of impact. We do know, however, that Dean got a speeding ticket a couple of hours prior for doing 65 in a 55. We'll never know the full speed he was going at the point of impact. One of the officers said that he didn't think that speed was a factor and an early '90s computer recreation (almost 40 years after the accident) showed that Dean's car travelled 45 feet after the point of impact, placing his speed at the time of impact at around 55-60, at or about five miles per hour over the legal limit of 55. If Dean had been going faster, his car would have travelled much further away than 45 feet from the point of impact and one of the officers who responded to the accident said that there would have been nothing left of the car had Dean been going faster than say the 55-60, the speed an early '90s documentary said. So we'll never know the true speed JD was travelling at the point of impact. Plus, it was nearly 70 years ago now and those involved on September 30, 1955 are either gone, old, getting old or not talking about that day.

TY corrado, ahhh.. I always have a feeling of reverance when hearing James voice. His sloooow rythm. His good soul. His natural style.

Im 90s kid but im so upset that he died so young. He could have made more amazing films than Brando or Al Pacino.

The sad part is that Jimmy never got to see the picture he starred in ' Rebel Without a Cause' Warner Bros. released the film on October 27, 1955, nearly a month after Dean's death.

Who would’ve known that he would’ve been killed in a car accident shortly after. So sad.... he was in his prime. How he just says to be careful cause a life u save might be his, is so eerie. Like the irony. Like he might’ve known what was coming. How he always said to live like you die today..... it’s all so much.

right! I thought so too. and the fact that they were the ones that gave him the script AND in the background the photo of him on the wall is like a photo for a funeral, just really weird and creepy. someone/some people cursed him tbh. jealousy.
