James was on air at 10pm following what was Timmy Mallett's last show before he left Piccadilly Radio - there was a leaving party for him going on while James was on. Also James claimed that Frank Sidebottom was doing the answering of the phones that night. The hot topic for the show was - What is that strange object in the centre of the pitch in the World Cup games? Rita Roe also has her slot after around 15 mins. We also get delightful contributions from Mike Dean, Roy Acorn and Jimmy White.

I used to love this and later James stannage on Piccadilly / key 103. I listened as a kid and into adulthood. I recall James H Reeve coming back for a stint after they sacked stannage in the 00’s.

Great to hear these shows again ILR has all but gone now, it is good that there are these recordings available for the benefit of those who were not fortunate enough to be around when local radio stations were just that not ipods playing a couple of dozen tunes with a few advertisements thrown in

Great memories of listening to this every night on Piccadilly Radio. Loved it when he dismantled his idiot callers, even giving out their number if they were stupid enough to be abusive!!

Holy shit I remember listening to this, I was 16 and got a radio off my mum that she won at bingo in blackpool for 1 win. I was only allowed to stay up until 9pm and tinternet didn't exist yet, and only gret southern nancies had more than 1 tv. I still remember when his Citroen was stolen and the thief replaced the seats and stuff for a Ford Escort gubbins, or vice versa and people kept phoning in offering an Escort with Citroen insides for sale, Mr Reeve NOT impressed with the digs. Really pissed me off when they canned him a few years later, but by then I had a portable black and white tv made in Soviet Russia that my mum won at bingo in Blackpool for 5 wins.

Used to listen when I lived in the Uk and it’s just as funny all over again. I think James is on a par with the great Howard Stern, especially at the time. I recall his favorite descriptor for some of his callers was “pie can”…and when I speak to idiots now, that pops into my head every time! 😂

No sorry, I cut all the music out at the time to save space on the cassettes!! I still have some not yet uploaded so if any have the full music I'll keep it in (if KZfaq lets me)
