I think that is instrinsic to Lar's playing at this point. I LOVE him in the studio but live he pisses me off, lollW Wish he would sometimes play his own arrangements at a consistent tempo. But I do miss the old days where it was easier for the rest of the band to keep uyp with him. That's gotta suck now!

While I do and have always liked Lars’ drumming (being a drummer myself, dunno if that makes a difference?) but I can say without any fear of controversy, “He’s not even the best drummer in the band”. If James was a VERY talented octopus, I think he’d have booted Lars out a long time ago and done both jobs himself. I’d like to imagine that with a boot on each and every one of his eight tenticyouleeez. :)

NO fckn dedication what so ever anymore... Scott Travis is older, still plays flawlessly fast... Younger drummers been playing for 5-10 years, they could out drum his old lazy as any day, even that little Chinese girl could smash him. .

go see their performance at Elton John tribute show, James directly faces Lars to make sure he stays in time -- edit: this is why imo the donut stage was a bad idea - it's tough enough as it is for these guys to stay in sync, when Lars and James are so far apart physically it makes it even more difficult

0.12 Kirk gave James a WTF, pissed off look to say something was off. Kirk and James both looked like they were rushing to try and keep up to Lars, causing it to sound like crap. The timing and rhythm was off right from the start because Lars drank a couple Monsters and was running away from them. And of course there is no bass to try and keep time off either. The song is not as fast as Lars was playing it here.

Remember when Metallica used to speed up everything live was not all on Lars 😂 track's like creeping death and Battery was insane live in the late 80's i dont think they have that attack and speed anymore but age and just making live performances more economical the tracks have changed a bunch over the years from relearning or just to make it easier even james is using less down picking. They are still a beast of a band live and really happy these guys are still playing shows. But It's not going to last forever if you haven't already, go and see them before you miss out.

James doesn't tell Lars to slow down, he is telling it to Kirk ! Metallica doesn't use "clicks" (it wouldn't be a problem if they used it but they just don't use it),the earsBugs in their ears are adjusted so that Lars is following what James is playing, we can say that Papa Het is Lars "click track". I know 'cause I am a former technician for them.

Lars was carrying the beat at 230bpm though - that’s significantly faster than it was originally recorded, and even after it was sped up. Kirk and James were clearly lagging behind with James not able to keep up and having to resort to just power chords I don’t see how Lars can be so much faster with the arrangement you speak of. Perhaps somethings faulty somewhere? Or maybe they changed the setup since?

they use clicks since 2022 or maybe even end of 2021. specially lars. when you walked sometimes fos on the guitar/drum techs positions you noticed. and since 2021 they also played in a more studio tempo

Mais cette musique que l'on aime n'est pas pour les effarouchés ou les coincés, laissez-moi James et son groupe faire ce qui leur plaît...

i think what we're hearing here is the closeness of the camera mic to the actual drumset so we hear the actual drum sound from the kit in real time while the speakers that are playing back the guitars are far enough away that the guitars sound delayed. theyre still in time together in the vid they just sound off sync cause of the delay
