Sammy heads down to Beverly Hills for a special concert in honor of the one and only Eddie Money. There, Sammy swaps stories about the beloved rocker with the likes of Metallica's James Hetfield, REO Speedwagon's Kevin Cronin and Dave Amato, and George Thorogood before taking the stage for a lively performance with members of the Money family.

I saw Eddie live at a local radio show “festival”deal with REO and Ratt and the one thing that stuck out to me was when Ratt was done Eddie was helping the road crew off load the gear during the change over. I don’t know why but it always stuck out to me that he was a class act help out anyone no matter when and what it was.

Greg and I go waaay back. I was almost crushed against the stage when he played the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico, CA. I barely made it out alive when the crowd surged forward and I was belly against the stage already. I had bruised ribs and almost suffocated. It was a small crowd maybe 200+ people. It was around 1979. The Plimsouls opened.

Crowd crush is one of the scariest things you can go through , especially if your up against something that doesn't give like a solid concrete wall , been there , I have almost died many times and been through all manner of scary stuff but that experience is the worst because its not a fight if there is enough people no matter how big or strong you are you feel helpless . I dont avoid crowds but I try not to be in spots where you can end up the final pressure point up against something dead solid .

I met Sammy Hagar when I was in high school during the 5150 Van Halen tour at the old PlayBoy club near Alpine Valley In Wisconsin. I was with a bunch of my friends who were all much larger than me I was like 5’ 5” and 110 lbs soaking wet. Sammy pushed his way through them and shook my hand and actually talked with me. I was Fricken stunned and I will never forget it.

Here’s my Eddie Money story. I went to the Burbank airport to pick up my boss who was flying in from SFO. On the way I had a couple cups of coffee and needed a biology break. It was the early 90’s so I was actually parked at the curb. I ran into the mens bathroom, while standing at the pee box I see Eddie come in and goes to one, one away from me. I had just seen him play a month earlier in Sacramento so I knew it was him. I said, your names Eddie right? Yes he said. Eddie Money? Yes. I finished, was washing my hands and I told him about the concert in Sacramento AND that I was listening to one of his cassette in my truck. Bullshit he says. I say, my trucks at the curb, it I’m telling you the truth you sign my cassette if I’m lying I’ll give you a $10 spot. You’re on. Let’s go. We walk out together to my truck. Open the door and I show him the tape. Son of a bitch, that’s great. Where’s the cover? He signed it “To Tim & Delana, Love Ya, Eddie Money.” We talked for a few minutes. I remember he said he lived in Lafayette, CA. Thinking back, he knew I wasn’t BSing him. He gave me a great memory. Great guy.
