James O'Brien discusses the assassination attempt on Donald Trump and praises his reaction to the incident.
Saturday evening saw a shooter take aim at the former president during a rally in Pennsylvania, with Trump shot in the ear by a sniper before being rushed off stage by close security.
He's now said he's "lucky to be alive" in his first interview since he was shot at.
James argues that the former president's response was 'very impressive' and 'objectively remarkable'.
However, he stresses that this still hasn't taken away his 'disgust for what he has done to democracy.'

Don't underestimate the power of news, the power of recognition, the messianic fervor, the religious reinterpretation, the power of popular amplification, the power of conspiracy. And because i have basic empathy, I'm not letting of when he is a victim of the hate and fear he has instituted himself in his own followers and supporters. I have time for them. But not for the instigator, that still actively harms people. And because he doesn't go e any thing back , it only goes one way. And if you give him quarter he just drain you and toss you aside. Everybody knows this including most of his supporters . If he went a d tried to redeem himself we can talk, but he only ever doubled down and increased harms. Threats, People going into hiding. Intimidation, people paralyzed with fear the day they have to testify, because he acts like a mafia boss. How bad do I feel when a mafia boss is shot by his own? Am a little saddened ofcourse but also shrugs. And think of the damage he invokes on many many people every day. And how quickly we were told what was happening off-stage. Yes, his reaction was indeed bizarre. He had never “pretended” before - ever. Lied. Certainly. Acting is a different skill, and he couldn’t carry it off. Though it was as brief as they could make it. As for the “shot” itself - which actually connected , so we are told, ask any firearms expert. If the journalists had any private doubts, they wouldn’t share them with us. They would be risking their credibility.: they’ll wait until later.
