As I remember it, the MP's listened to their own constituents and made a decision to either support or call out Boris Johnson. That should, if right, show which constituencies the opposition parties should align to fight.

Liz Truss performed a familiar Trump move - that is, to make the audience turn against the media present in the room. The audience turns on media and Truss/Trump feel absolved of any responsibility. Outsiders, especially the media, are not welcomed during these meetings. Moreover, these facile moves suggest to me a dumbing down of any kind of serious political discourse. When you can get your followers to howl with laughter or participate in deriding the other side then you see that the our politics is sadly becoming more and more juvenile. This is a period of great uncertainty. We need serious and experienced leaders to lead us through these difficult times.

Every time I see Truss, I’m straight away reminded of Polly Kemp’s character Robyn on the Thick of it

There was a clip from the end of the thing, where Truss apologised and said: "I am sorry I was mean about the media, Tom." Mr Newton Dunn could be heard to reply that the jibes about the media were "cheap and you know it".

This isn't specific to Partygate, but when we talk of media agendas and conspiracies, I put it down to the media en masse being 1: Organised 2: In the pockets of someone with a vested interest one way or the other and 3: Competing with one another for readership, sales and influence. ... These things together, collectively, have a similar effect on the populations of the world that social media does. They warp the truth into a simplified narrative that even governments themselves end up subscribing to, and in some cases go on to be concerned about their own positions, records and reputations. What we need to do, not just in Britain but around the world, is break up and diversify the media so that it becomes a much more organic representation of public opinion. That will not only help us to tackle extremism and tribalism, but it will better equip us to face down the challenges of our world. As ever, it is the ruthless pursuit of money and power that is responsible.

The host of this segment said that he does not think as much about what goes on in America. Most Americans do not think much about what goes on in America.

That people still support Boris or Trump for that matter, is just mind boggling.. I mean neither even attempted to hide what they are. Boris has displayed his dishonesty regularly throughout his public life, both as a journalist and a politician. He has one of the most entitled, 'I am above answering to the great unwashed' attitude I have ever seen from a Tory...and that's a real high (low?) bar. He also gives the impression that he considers that 99% of the population as firmly qualified to be members of the 'great unwashed' well below his group...'the elites'. The vast majority of the population are beneath him, easily conned and not worth the bother of putting much effort into the act of deceiving them. It's like people refusing to believe that the fella in the bank in a mask, holding a gun and a bag with SWAG written on it could possibly be a robber and others thinking he was just misrepresented by all the witnesses, evidence and CCTV. There is not even a need for Boris to delude these people, he recognised early on that they had already done all that work themselves.
