Its very common also amongst players who came from poverty, not just columbians. But i think it’s necessary to understand that most of these players use football as a mean to get themselves and their family out of poverty, and when they do make it, they often come to a sort of crossroad, where they have to choose whether to put in the physical effort to become the greatest in the game, or to just enjoy the heights they’ve reached and try to make as much money as possible while it’s still possible. We’ve seen it with Oscar (moved to China), Chamakh (Moroccan player, stopped caring about developing as soon as he cemented his spot as a football star), and many more. In my opinion, its not about their nationality, more so the environment they grew in and the reason they started playing football.
