James didn't have to explain himself, but its nice to hear him say the things we all knew was the truth, he obviously wasn't being sexiest (for god sakes, he raffled off all his old AVGN stuff to donate money to the hospital that gave his infant daughter back the ability to walk) he just didn't want to see a movie that didn't look good because he knew his fans would have wanted to see him talk about it, obviously that doesn't matter one bit to the people who dragged his name though the mud, but ya know what, James just grabbed a garden hose and washed the mud off, so he'll still remain a funny down to earth guy, and that movie will still be regarded as shit, regardless what chromosome it was flaunting.

You hear that sound? Exactly, nothing. No audience members screaming for his head, no extremists claiming he's sexist. Just nothing but the sound of silence from an audience listening to a logical reason to not see the movie. Now why can't the KZfaq comments be like that. Bare in mind, I've watched AVGN since his Karate Kid video. I watched Nostalgia Critic and all of those people do reviews and what not. With the exception of the DCEU movies (Because they seemed more mean spirited than something funny, Man of Steel being the exception, but even then that's still their opinion), I have watched them pick apart movies I liked and follow the advice they give between them. Two things come to mind. One is that they convey that you make up your own mind and that their opinion shouldn't change yours over the mediums you like. And two if there is something you don't like or something you don't think would be good, simple, don't watch it. Wait till the hype blows over or it would turn something stupid like GBIII into a battle of the sexes that no one wanted except those that could profit off it. Those that went against James in the most violent ways imaginable, never heeded those words. They could have simply said "Fuck him, it's his opinion, shouldn't affect me whatsoever." Watched the movie and moved on with their lives. But nooooooo because he didn't want to watch the movie and because it was at a time where people said "Our opinions are world opinions, if you hate what we like you hate the world you sexist racist pig." Your opinions are just that, your opinions. If a bunch of people agree with you, more power too you, but that's just it a bunch of people. You and them are not the world, you're just a bunch of people with the loudest whiniest voice. Either move on with your life or step on moving traffic so the rest of the world can't hear you anymore.

I remember when Ghostbusters 2016 trailer dropped and all these people attacked it as not being good before actually seeing it, so I commented "let's wait and see, it may be good" to which I was called a libtard. Then the movie came out, I watched it and decided I didn't like it, I commented on how I didn't like it and suddenly I'm being called a right wing nut. I guess I'm a libtard right wing nut for having an opinion on a movie.

I didnt see the 2016 Ghostbusters not because it was a female cast it didn't look good.

All they had to do to make the new Ghostbusters movie likeable and something fans want to see is to connect the new characters to the old ones. That's what fans wanted to see as James says. Some type of passing the torch feeling. And it looks like that is what they are doing with this new Afterlife film. Making the family related to the late Egon Spangler. They even have the old ecto-1 car in the trailer. So right off the bat fans have things they can relate to from the older films, but also are being introduced to new characters that aren't just 4 new guys trying to be the Ghostbusters from the 80's.

I was a feminist at that time, and I'm even more of a feminist now. Then and now, I thought this was such a stupid backlash that didn't need to happen. I think James' point that maybe he got lumped in with people who *did* have sexist reasons for not seeing the movie was in fact what happened to him, and that really sucks. That said, I'm glad he managed to move past it. It's dumb stuff like this that makes me happy I finally deleted my Twitter account earlier this year.

Regardless of the cast, James comments are still valid. The worst part of this movie is that the cast is actually really funny. The problem is that the script was hot garbage. You could have brought back the original cast and gave them that scrip and it still wouldn't have been funny... it probably would have been worse.

I think the reason why the put an all female crew was for it to be an anti critic armour. If shit goes down with the movie and any criticism appeared, oh you are just a sexiest.

"How can you re-make Ben-Hur?" What a poor example. The source material is a novel, and both, the 1925 and the 1959 feature length adaptations, are critically acclaimed classics (the first adaptation was a short film in 1907). That's how you "re-make" Ben-Hur, the way William Wyler did.

Everybody wanted to see the original Ghostbusters but if that wasn't the case then maybe a son or student of them and maybe a female character but not an ALL female version.
