Nice work, not hugely controversial, but informative and entertaining. I'm not a Green supporter but do support democracy and thus the Greens have both the right and a very distinct role to play, whether I like it or not.

I never agreed with his politics, but i liked him. But the current coalition have more Maori MPs than the previous coalition, so maybe he needs to check his facts, and the interviewer should have pulled him up on it. But this is RNZ after all

I recall Shaw talking at Auckland Uni very early on in the 1st Labour Green NZFirst govt. He said if a person doesn't do what he or she says they will do then do not vote for them and replace them with someone who will. Shaw should have been gone by the end of the ist term. He appeased and appeased and had his legal term go outside parliament to the High Court to defang the ZCA saying it was only aspirational. I got to wondering who was really working for by the end of the 1st term. NZ needs a better system than representative democracy for the corporations, it's called deliberative democracy. The sooner the better.

We need Co2 to grow plants, its not the issue, and NZ contribution to climate change is so small , we are not the issue, we are only a ant fart in the schemes of things. The greens are crippling this country.
@mariannegilbert8786
@mariannegilbert8786 29 күн бұрын
There are not anywhere enough plants in the world to absorb the amount being produced. We are responsible for a little under 1% of what is being produced. There are a lot of countries in the same boat as us, if we all say we don’t make much it’s not our problem, collectively we add up to a lot. We do need to do our bit and our leadership and stance on environmental stuff gives us international kudos for trade and tourism.
@robduthie2979
@robduthie2979 29 күн бұрын
@@mariannegilbert8786 It is way less the 1%, why do hot houses need to pump in CO2 to make there plants grow, that will escape etc. But the plant grow way better with it, as the CO2 helps a lot, CO2 is not a climate warming gas, as you make out, and there are other forces out there causing warming, there arer natual earth cycles, and solar and sea cycle which all effect this, At the moment we are in 11year solar storm cycle, which will peak around 2025, watch out for this.
@danielwatson124
@danielwatson124 28 күн бұрын
Wait so which is it? CO2 isn't an issue? Or it is an issue but we aren't big enough to make a difference? Is it some other CO2 equivalents that you think are an issue over others, like methane, HFCs, or PFCs? Cause if its that then our intensive animal argriculture puts our emmissions up there pretty highly, massively so when we consider per capita, and if you have any understanding of civics and geopolitics, you'd know that a small nation like ours should be looking at this stuff through a per capita lens. I know that when people get called out on a dumb statment, they get self defensive. Ape brain will restart in safe mode, and block out any criticism or threat. And the chances of you actually hearing what I'm saying is pretty low because of that. But I really want to point out some flawed logic there. Your comment is just wrong, sorry man. We need CO2 to grow plants, yes, but we also need trace amounts of Chromium in our bodies to live, which is highly toxic when in excess. I'd highly recommend reading up on real peer reviewed studies on the climate ay, I know where you're getting your info probably makes you feel smart, and safe, but it is primary school levels of simple, and believing it is harming you.
