Regardless of my somewhat negative comments further below, I will state that this channel from Italy I believe, has demonstrated the very best sound on you tube. You can get a very good idea of what Used to be at At HiFi shops that were everywhere and now are nowhere

I agree with you @quadspeak, I love this channel. Just contrast the sound of these speakers with their Klipsch La Scalas here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7d2aZlqpsC6pqs.html and you can see what is possible just listening on youtube. There is something 'off' on this recording I think. Or maybe I just prefer Mark Knopfler, LOL.

Where is your negative comment? That says nothing about the channel itself. Of course this is the top audiophile channel on you tube and the store it features is probably the best in the world at the moment. 🙂

That is the absolute truth, when I was kid in the 80's, I used to love going to the HiFi shops with my dad. Checking out the new high end gear, plus looking at all the used equipment on the shelves. I really miss those days, every one of those shops are gone, except a few "high end" boutique shops/dealers where I have purchased my equipment. Most of the time a lot of the guys working there do not know a damn thing about it. It's just 1 guy & sometimes that person doesn't know squat. 🤦🏻

Unlike Klipsch heritage which more incline towards big and enveloping soundstage, JBL more prone to make dynamic sounding speakers. Their bass is tight and quick. Mid is clear and dynamic. Klipsch mid sounds airy, transparent and lively.

@@grandpixel I hear you- I really do, and I do agree to a large extent. But, these videos can mean many different things to people. Depending on the quality of equipment used to record, you can indeed hear differences even over YT, though we all agree it’s not a substitution for an in person trial. Heck, listening to a setup in a store can be wildly misleading compared with your home/listening space. It’s fun to see this eye candy and listen along, ya know? That’s really all there is to it, I think.

My guess is the room acoustics are not that good. JBL's typically have good midrange, and these speakers are like $10k/pair.
@halmetzger8429
@halmetzger8429 Жыл бұрын
Most likely what your both hearing are experiencing, your conclusions on the sound you’re hearing from this system and speakers would be caused by the actual recording. These speakers are very efficient and similar to most high-efficiency speakers. They are very source dependent! To explain, they produce superbly and accurately what goes into them, so with that being said, a bad recorded source will sound just that BAD. The better the source and the equipment upstream, determines what you hear coming out of the these speakers! Happy listening!🔊🎶🔊🎼
@quadspeak
@quadspeak Жыл бұрын
Hal please don’t take this the wrong way. The JBL has fabulous presence and are very alive sounding and this is very refreshing to listen to after the boring box speakers through the years……but accurate? Ah no the Bass is punchy but terribly rolled off below 40 the top has the typical horn driver fatigue on extended listening. JBL has been doing this same sound since the 70s But I have far more respect for this brand than Wilson or Magico they are part of the high priced extreme audio racket In an interview before he joined the cabal. Richard Vandersteen stated he did not know what he could put into any speaker to make it cost more than $10000.00. Now he has joined the EZ money crowd. Why not they are willing to pay automobile prices for a box drivers and a crossover
@halmetzger8429
@halmetzger8429 Жыл бұрын
@@quadspeak Well sir you are right and I stand to be corrected. Your description is more in depth and correct! And the prices they are asking for some is just ridiculous at least to my ears! But if some can hear that kind of difference in the sound more power to them. As a music lover, hifi enthusiast, and owner of many systems over my 50 years in the hobby at 66 now lol my chase for the newest and best is somewhat over! At least for speakers! Gear is questionable lol. With two devoted listening rooms now with Khorns in one and la scala’s and infinities, in the other. Tells me one thing, no one speaker plays every music genre just right. Do you find that to be true? Lol by the way I have that album and the recording quality is mediocre, and I find it sounds better being played through the infinities. Like a lot of rock pressings from that era!

Do not judge all JBL's from this video, it sounds very echoy. I have the JBL HDI 3800's which are around $4k/pr (the 3900's are like $11k/pr) and they are not boomy or echoy at all. Excellent midrange, strong bass, and snappiness and presence that can only come from well designed compression drivers. Highly recommended.
