My late husband and i saw JT the year before he passed in Birmingham Al at Oak Mtn. My husband wanted to hear this song so much. He didnt sing it until the very end of the concert and as soon as the first chords were played my Wesley shouted out "There is a God in Heaven that loves me" ❤ it was a beautiful evening and i will cherish the memories until i leave this world and see my sweetheart once again ❤

My son was born July 10, 2002. This is the song he fell asleep to every night until he was about 6. On June 14th, 2020 he was killed in a horrific car accident. His girlfriend and his two cattle dogs, Ace and Aspen, were also killed. We played this at his funeral. We have come full circle with this beautiful song. BTW, his name is/was James.

Just now, I was searching KZfaq for a good cover of this song. There are some decent ones, but I've come to the conclusion that nobody can sing this song like James Taylor. Most people, they just don't have the special sadness and beauty that he has. Everyone has their own sadness, their own loneliness to wrestle with. This inimitable song just needs James's life behind it to sound the way it should.

Hi There is a young cowboy, he lives on the range His horse and his cattle, they're his only companions He works in the saddle and sleeps in the canyons Just waiting for summer, his pastures to change And as the moon rises, he sits by his fire Just thinking about women and glasses of beer And closing his eyes as the doggies retire He sings out a song which is soft, but it's clear Just as if maybe someone could hear He says goodnight all you moonlight ladies Rockabye sweet baby James Deep greens and blues for the colors I choose Won't you let me go down in my dreams? Guess I'm rockabye, sweet baby James Now the first of December was covered with snow Yes, and so was the turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston Now the Berkshires, they seemed dream-like on account of that frosting With ten miles behind me, and ten thousand more to go, you know There's a song that they sing when they take to the highway A song that they sing when they take to the sea A song that they sing of their home in the sky Maybe you can believe it if it helps you to sleep But singing seemed to work fine for me So goodnight, all you moonlight ladies Rockabye, sweet baby James Deep greens and blues for the colors I choose Won't you let me go down in my dreams? Oh rockabye, oh sweet baby James
