There is no panto in Canada/USA. It's not that 'we wouldn't get it' but it's a special kind of entertainment that is maybe more 'intellectual' and quick witted than what is normally done. Also, they wouldn't go for men in drag for costumes. Even Dame Edna was something that appealed to only particular tastes in North America. Mostly older women and the husbands that would be dragged along for the shows.

Understandable that Bobby Davro was sacked. Yes, it's unfortunate that his mate was ill and dying but when you have a performance to attend, you cannot be late. Now that she has passed away, there's no reason however that he was not able to be rehired for other pantos. He's a 40+ year legend that had a rough time due to circumstances. Means nothing now in terms of his ability to complete his contract terms on a new gig.
