Aside from three years spent in the Bronx a gazillion years ago when I was very little (ages one through four) I've never lived in NYC, but I think a lot of what he's describing kind of comes with the territory of living in an apartment anywhere. I've lived in apartments in New Jersey and various parts of the Île-de-France (Paris and surrounding area), and can assure anyone who's never experienced apartment living that it sucks ass as a general rule.

Nothing serious here, but if I did rewrite Spook McEntyre, his psyche would probably be a lot closer to Henry Rollins', which in a lot of ways I think is what I did the first time without realizing it.
