Anyone else feel like the third Spyro game’s greatest weakness is an over abundance of half baked mini games?

I hope whoever designed this level is having a terrible quarantine

I'm gonna be honest, I just came off of rage-quitting Spyro because of this mini game, and I wanted to look it up on KZfaq to see just how many other people hate it as much as I do.

Behold, the challenge that made me rage more than I ever have during any other part of this game.

It definitely feels like the hit boxes for the moles are half the size of their models, while the hit boxes of the gnomes were about twice the size of the character models

Took me 32 attempts and I almost broke my controller the amount of times I slammed it into the floor. Instead of 20 bloody moles they should of done 15.

Does anyone else try to beat up The Amazing Randini after failing too many times or is that just me?

When I saw this minigame, I felt hours of childhood anguish rush back to me. Just as terrible as I remember it being.

Finished the game in 22:2 -which is dope ayy- all thanks to the comment section.. getting the camera angle to higher view, staying in one place, and hitting the same mole more than one time DID HELP ALOT.. I even got mad when I won cuz I thought I hit an invisible gnome once again and lost like the 300 previous attempts, that’s how shocking it was lol I hated this minigame so much, but also wished I searched for this video a week ago or something.. thanks to every pure soul that helped in the comment section :’)

This level is broken. The original had sort of an overhead camera on this challenge making it much easier. Hopefully it will be patched since the development was rushed.

Decided to wack the gnome at the begining of the challenge to get my fustrations out from this level.

Just a tip you can Wack the same mole twice or even 3 times and it will count. Do that if you get them close to the wall and yes it counts you get the egg called Hank when you’re done

I got to 19/20 moles with like 3 seconds to spare, but of course no moles pop out next to me & it’s like 6 gnomes all running around in my way & the only mole to pop out is all the way across from me & the big ass yeti can’t move fast. UGH, fuck this mini game hahahaha.

If you get to hit the first mole that pops up, you'll probably do a lot better. I've had to retry this so many times to attest that every time I did get it I was doing a lot better. If only the decoys didn't walk into my swings from where I couldn't see...

idk what's worse this or the red and blue dragons from the fireworks stage 😤

I don’t even wanna try to guess how many tries this took me. It’s infuriating. Doesn’t help that those gnomes have a bloody death wish 😤

Words can't describe how infuriating this mini game is!! Sometimes it takes about 10 seconds for a mole to even pop up. Twice now I've got 19/20 and nearly hit the last one with 0.01 remaining.

This guy beat it by the SKIN OF HIS ASS, like 3/10 of a second left so if this is a "how to beat this challenge" then move on, he doesn't do anything different from what we all do, he just got lucky!!!!!!

That was one of the hardest to do for me back then and it still is!

I had it done when I just stayed at one place and crashed the moles around me. This mini game costed me my mental health for an evening

I swear Bentley fucking locks onto the gnomes when you’re not even aiming for them! Spyro 3 is honestly such a poor game, it pads out levels with absolutely shite mini levels which have little to no thought put into them.

This challenge would be hard enough without the stupid magicians in the way 😣

Staying in one place worked for me, moles kept popping up in the same spots, finished with 3 seconds to spare adter about 30 attempts 😂

Using the pinned comments suggestion of the camera top view is helpful AND I also suggest not moving around too much, if you stay put enough moles will pop up pretty close to you. Don't be tempted to run around!

Last time I did this mission I had 19/20 moles, 5 seconds left, then when I swung at the last one *A GNOME SPRINTED IN FROM OFFSCREEN AND BLOCKED IT. THE GNOME SABOTAGED ME*

I cant do this one :( the time run out so quickly....and I keep turning the camera around just to find where the mole popping up

I never felt that much anger in my entire life before I played this mini game. Like what what's even the mission of those tumor head gnomes ? If they want my help they can fuck each other in the ass or whatever while I beat the shit outta that moles but no, the chose to run giggling over the field and start crying after a little scratch from the mace.. I had 4 mental breakdowns and got addicted to crack after trying this mission about 50 times

I've fully completed the first two games, I don't think I'll be physically capable of fully completing this one.... *Sigh * Did everything you're supposed to do on the butterfly race, seems impossible to win that. Those damn twin dragons... I've just done this 10 times never going over 8 moles. Why the hell is it timed?! So many points in this game seem purposely made artificially difficult.

If you hold the right joystick down it will give you an overhead view. Tried this 10 times before doing so and I got it first try with 20 seconds to spare

I would like to add since I have seen a lot of complaints about this, you can move the angle of the camra so you can have a semi aerial veiw.

Holy shit, I finally did it thanks to the help of the comments section. I got lucky enough to hit the first one and then after that I just stayed in one area. Got it done with like 15 seconds left. When I started it out, it took me 5 tries and getting mad because I did not hit any gnomes. Then I realized it was on a timer. Like wtf?? Took me 30 more tries before comin to the tubers for help. Thanks guys 😉

I got to 19 and ran out of time. Whoever designed this and the twin dragons deserves no peace.

I'm so in rage that I whack the gnome giving the minigame quest. 😂😂😂 This player makes this look so easy. Fu**, everytime I get to 19 I eighter whack a gnome by accident of run out of time. Love spyro games but why did they have to make these so god damn hard? 😭😭😭

It was easier in the original

beaten after about 15th try. Don't feel any fulfillment or satisfaction because it was by pure luck - moles happened to spawn in right points. Very, very poor game design. Spyro 2 still the king.

I just hated the crystal islands immensely. Not that fun of a level.in my opinion.

I just uninstalled my game after trying this shit for a couple of times. Spyro 3 isn't worth that.

Everything about this mini game is awful The time starts as soon as u press A. The characters model and weapon are too large and obstruct too much screen real estate. His weapons hit box is puny compared to its size and has no AOE damage. The moles spawn for brief moments behind you disallowing the camera to maneuver in a timely manner There becomes more gnomes than moles The gnomes can push your character and the moles character disrupting your attacks. You can't even see when they spawn right in front of you became his character model is 37% of the visual real estate. I hope this designer broke their career with this. Can't even blame "it was PS1 era".
