I assume that the macros you set up are in the Mac version of Affinity Photo 2, James. Will these macros work in Affinity Photo 2 for iPad?

@@nealschneider6554 hey, yes, iPad has the same functionality as desktop so all the macros will work as intended!

Wow, my mind is numb from all that you've demonstrated. I'm going to rethink the way I process my own images and will use this photographic editing to learn from. I'll definitely be downloading your macros and try to get my head around them. I am not a technical person, so they do overwhelm my poor old brain! LOL. Thank you so very much for this video. I love learning from you. Sorry I could not watch the live stream, maybe one day you'll do them for the southern hemisphere timezone. LOL. Cheers with much appreciation.

Another informative and entertaining tutorial. Really enjoy watching your workflow, the reasoning behind the methodology, and the geeky explanations of why this and not that. I regularly re-watch your videos and always come away with new ways of doing things.

Hi James, I found that interesting and very helpful. I like the style of repeating the techniques to reinforce the learning. Only a great tutorial keeps us engaged for nearly 2 hours. Thank you

Thank you James, very informative and inspiring! Few of my thoughts regarding masking: Actually, adding a separate mask to adjustment layer is very useful to me. I can switch off this mask to see if I like the result of adjustment layer with or without the mask. With built-in mask it's not possible. Part about masks - 48:03 Another useful technique for me is to group adjustment layers and use one mask for that group, instead of the same masks for multiple layers. It's easier to modify one mask instead of multiple copies. Of course there are many use cases when both methods have their advantages. What is important here is to use mask as a child layer of the group sitting beneath other adjustments instead of clipped to that group. This is because a mask clipped to a group has slightly different effect compared to a mask clipped to regular adjustment layer. Part about correcting multiple masks - 29:25

Again an awesome video! To me it is almost imposible to apply such a bunch of techniques but I am really happy to grasp a couple of them and also be challenged by different sequences and steps to apply those live filters and move away from my confort zone!! Thank you.

Bugga ; I need antidepressants after watching most of your videos James 😄 ---- why didn't I know THAT sort of thing? ! I couldn't keep track of so many macros !! Dodge and Burn ; one of the oldest tools from the darkroom and a tool not mentioned enough imo . I have always (from PS7) used a white or black or even colour ;) light soft (10% give or take) brush on a 100% opacity softlight layer and use multiple stroke to paint in the effect . I guess it's very similar to as I do in my old Lr5 ( so grad I didn't move past Version 5 --- I beatya there Adobe 🥳) Apart from maybe being "the younger" way , is your way greatly different in the final results ? I also add/have in macros a mask to make easier reductions I find using colour brushes is great for colour toning B+W files or even adding selective a colour to a colour file . For me; it just seems simpler than some of the "have to have/use" newer ways .

Many thanks, great presentation as usual. Re HDR is it possible to do if you only have one image, change settings in Affinity too "under" and "over" expose and then run the HDR as you showed.
@JamesRitson
@JamesRitson 11 ай бұрын
Hey, thank you. You can treat a single image as HDR, yes: you would change the RAW output format on the Develop Assistant to 32-bit HDR (leave the tone curve option off, do not enable it again manually), then open and develop a RAW file. If you're previewing on an HDR/EDR capable display, you will already be seeing the extended brightness range. Either way. you can then tone map the image like you would a bracketed HDR merge. No need to synthetically create underexposed and overexposed versions of the same image!

What a great video, @JamesReston!! It has so many good tips and techniques, I’m going to have to watch it again. Are the “Scope Panel” and the “HSV” adjustment available in the iPad version of Affinity Photo 2? I did not see either of them.
